Ok...I just purchased the 99 Dodge dakota V8.....they also gave me this intake thing called "air-raid"...or something like that....I will not be using it, as I am a "factory man"
...Anyway.....this truck is NICE!!!
Not a freaking mark on it!!....aroung 16,000 miles...pulls real nice...interior is new as the day it was born...I have all the original documentation on it(from my fried who ordered it new)....it stickered out at 21,000!!!!(geez)
I am paying 14,100...not soooo bad.
got a good interest rate to boot!
This truck is LOADED to the max
Premium wheels(look very wide and nice)
Cd and Cassete
Leather steering wheel
some kind of accesorty package that is mounted on the headliner(?)(hey, I am a Chevy man here)...
The color is awesome(kinda of Silver and pewter mixed together?)
Brand new tires
Plus all the other good stuff
Car still basically smell brand new(my friend took extremely good care of it)
Brand new Duraliner bed liner
HAS THING CRAZY LOOKING "MOPAR" BLACK WRINKLE FINISH VALVE COVER ON IT????(again...I am a chevy man here)...I was told it was factory piece installed at the dealer.
My friend , while he had it, installed a Dynomax dual exhaust kit on it....has to stainlees steel pipes coming out on both sides...looks sharp.sounds sweet...although I like factory stuff...that is why the "AIR-RAID" goes BYE-BYE!!!...He also had this Chip, which he told me would help with performance...I will not be using it either!!!..He will give it to me!!...Guess I will use it as a paperweight!!
It has very nice tourque, which surprised the heck out of me.....
Ok now the scary stuff......I have read the post about the dakota problems.....the rodlinks squeeking (or something like that).....etc...
C'mon guys...I need your help as you are all "pros" and I am just a rookie, as far as the dodge goes(I own a 99 Supersport camaro convertible and a 95 Tbird...and a chevy truck)...this is my new baby!!!!
Please for the love of God tell me what to keep an eye on when I get this truck(besides my foot off the gas pedal)?????????????? :)
I also read somwhere about pinging(I noticed none when I drove it)
I suppose I will be a new member to this board now to, eh?
I am proud to be joining my fellow brothers that own Dodges!!

My friend Rodney is the type of guy that will buy something brand spankin new....keep it for a bout 6 months and then turn right around and trade it in on a newer model(weird, isn't he?).....he now drives a 2001 Frontier(nissan).....I am buying his Dodge from the dealership....
He paid $17,600 for a truck that "STICKERED" at $21,000......THEN turned around and traded it in (after less than a year!!!)...He got $13,650 dollars from the Nissan dealership
If you do the math....HE LOST $3960 dollar there.....Hell..I am not even throwing in the finace charges on this!!!
If you want a nice new Nissan in about 6 months from now email me...I AM SURE MY FRIEND WILL BE GIVING HIS UP!!! :)
He does this crap all the time...he is just like that!!!
I cannot explain why he is like this????
His loss is my gain, I suppose...This Dodge is nothing short of Awesome!....I would have NEVER gotten rid of it!...and this is coming from a true hard-core chevy man!!

IF you are looking for an increase in power and mpg the air-raid would help out. Congradulations on your purchase. I'd say you got a good deal on it. another good website to try is www.dakota-truck.net they have a mailing list that is also very helpful, and the site has a ton of excellant info.
