I have a 00 SLT 4x4 with the V8 4.7. I couldn't tell you any diffs other than looks because I didn't really look into the sport much. But I love the engine and if your looking for a little better gas go with the 4.7 if you can. If you can pick up the 98 SLT for the right price I would say go for it. But check the price Because maybe with all the deals out now you can get a new one for a little more. My dak cost me 19k and its has a lot of options including all the inside toys and the rollbar/bed rail bar combo with 4 off road lights mounted on top, bed liner and other things. Got it down from 26K
