Two questions, 1) in laymens terms what does the K&N Gen II do in HP/TQ and MPG. 2) where is the best place to get them I have been looking around but no luck. I have a 01 4.7L QUAD.

Just a suggestion, when looking for aftermarket parts sometime you might see if they have it for a 2000. the K&N for the 2000 will fit the 2001 it's the same truck. The K&N flows more air allowing the engine to breathe better thus producing more power. They are claimed to add up to 20 hp. i imagine on a stock truck they add 5-10. Some say the mpg has also gone up slightly. but as with any mod most people like the added power and have a tendency to accelerate faster thus reducing all possible gains in mpg.

On a 5.9L Jeep Grand Cherokee (Limited Edition), it showed a 24HP increase...that's due to the "squished" factory airhat. On a 5.2L Magnum engine, it showed an approximate 16HP increase.
For the 4.7L (K&N P/N#33-2175) I haven't seen or heard of anyone running one yet. The "Z-Tubes" are showing about 10HP increases though so I would guess that it should be close to that, if not more. (The 4.7's seem to like more airflow...including larger/porter throttle bodies as well).

Everyone is skipping over the MOPAR PARTS air intake...NOV. HOTROD gave it a very good review.Would it be the expense?I think I will get one for my 4.7 in the spring.(Your input is welcome)
PS Bernd.. what is type 1 steering,I,m not sure what you mean.

If you're referring to the Mopar Performance "Cold Air Kit" for the 5.2/5.9L...that's a K&N Gen-II system with the Mopar sticker on it.

Bernd -the K&N would be much cheaper than the MOPAR part? Do they make one for the 2000 4.7L DAK.
