As as the '97-'99 3.9/5.2/5.9L...yes. (With a Type-1 suspension)
Haven't looked under a 2.5L or 4.7L though.

Bernd I know that the 2001 2x4 has it...but I don't know if my 2000 has Rack and Pinion I,m guessing my truck has it. What is a type-1 supension? Bernd what gear do you run in your Truck?

I know my 2000 4X4 has it...it is my understanding that prior to 2000, all Dakota 4X2's had rack and pinion and the 4X4's had recirculating ball. For 2000 and beyond, all Dakotas have the rack and pinion regardless of whether they are a 4X2 or 4X4 or what engine/transmission combo is installed. At least that's what Car & Driver reports (can't recall which issue) and my window sticker confirms.

Bob: Type-1 Suspension: Basic Control Arm and Shock system.
I run 4.10:1 Gears due to the 32" tires. (Gives me an effective ratio of 3.60:1 on the pavement.)
