I hate the cargo lite on my DAKOTA...so here is what I did with it,I traded a friend for his plain RED one...he was happy to get it,for he uses his truck for hauling work suff(I haul ass only with mine)...take the RED lite and wire in two more bulbs...you can get the sockits from a junk yard or maybe a parts place.I got my harnnes from the tailgate lite from a older DAKOTA (they had two bulbs). It is much brighter...looks much better than the cargo lite.I think the FACTORY should put lites in the bed anyway.PS-I must be bored...layoff wk from JEEP.

Oh Bob Oh, I just took the third brake/cargo lite you know the one on the back of the cab, rewired the two bulbs to the brake bulbs and put in yellow bulbs and when I step on the brake I get a nice attention getter.

I'm sorry I carefully disassembled the third brake lite/ cargo light unit, then with a digital volt/ohm meter and checked the wireing harness, calculateing the current needed to run the brake light and converting the cargo light to yellow bulbs to give it that caution/brake light effect. Carefully cutting the power from the cargo light circute and marring the leads to the brake wire's. Now that sounds like---------- Damn if it doesn't sound like tech no crap. You just can do what I said the first time.
