they are relativly cheap.. you can get one at about any autostore... install is simple too..
-pop the hood
-find the hose that runs from the radiator to the intake
-take that hose off
-you'll see the old therm.
-find an old shoe or something rubberized but with some hardness.. I.e, rubber hammer
-get a paper bag
-pull your pants down and squat over the paper bag and beat yourself in the nuts with the rubber item until you crap on yourself and in the bag...
-roll the bag up tightly and stuff in into the hole where the hose connected to the intake...
-hump a homless guy
-burn your truck
-and buy a honda civic

This guy pretending to be me does a lot of gay stuff and now he's seems to be preoccupied with feces. I think most psychologists will tell you that he's a gay bed wetter and he expresses his anger by writing about other people doing these same things that he can't seem to get away from. Sorry about all the filth in this thread but there's a mad punk flamer loose.
The thermostat is easy to change on the 4.7 V8.
1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
2. Remove the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing (right or passenger's side) from beneath the truck.
3. Remove the 2 screws holding the thermostat housing to the engine.
4. Pull the thermostat housing off and retain the white gasket from around the old thermostat.
5. After notching the new thermostat to fit the white gasket, install the gasket onto the thermostat and install the thermostat into the housing.
6. Install the 2 thermostat housing screws and torque to 115 in/lbs.
7. Reattach the lower radiator hose.
8. Remove the bleed plug from the water pump near the upper radiator hose.
9. Fill system with coolant until the coolant just starts to come out of the bleed hole, reinstall bleed plug (I recommend using antiseize on the threads).
10. Start engine and bring it up to normal operating temperature, fill overflow reservoir to 'full' mark.
You should be able to get a thermostat for less than $10. If you're wanting to go to a 180* Tstat, I recommend the Mr. Gasket 4364.

I'm going to attempt his method of thermastat removal... I am such a jerk! I am the loser and the bed wetter... That the reason I am so accurate at pointing out people who wet the bed and have severe cases of just being a plain loser... Because i am one myself... or instead of draining all the coolant, you could run the truck up to tempurature, and drain some coolant out of the draincock at the bottom of your radiator until the upper hose is empty. its less time-consuming and if you just flushed your coolant system not long ago, you dont have to drain it all out.. Dont make it harder than it has to be.

I said drain the coolant from the radiator. I'm not getting your point here, have you done this before? If you had, you'd know that the thermostat is going to the lower radiator hose. As it is, more coolant will come out of the engine when the thermostat and housing are removed. If you only drain enough out until the upper hose is empty, there's going to be a lot of coolant coming out of the opening and thanks to you it will be scalding hot. How is that easier?

i have perfect reason to call you a moron...you almost made an inexperienced at-home mechanic take his lower radiator hose off his 360 only to find that there is no thermostat there. if youre not sure what you're talking about, then dont post instructions. people could get hurt that way.

The thread was started about the 4.7 V8 or can't you comprehend that? Jake Rt didn't ask "I have a 360 V8, how do you change the T-stat on my engine?"
Being as sharp as a bowling ball like you are, how did you figure that I called everyone childish?
This forum used to be frequented by decent people wanting to discuss Daks and mopar topics. Nowadays it's more common to have "wesley willa" types and other flamers that are good at throwing grenades and running without ever having their facts straight or caring as long as they can slime someone and get their rocks off doing it.
I really hope you go around talking to people in person the way you do here so that someone will knock your teeth out for you. They'll definitely be justified in doing so.
I really thought this thread was finished and would be buried but, along comes another smug grenade thrower! Don't you people ever do anything constructive instead of just taking up space?
