Now I want to know what you have done to your truck old fool....because if its close to stock you will most likely win against Jeremy but your not going to anhilihate him. And if your going to run me.....good luck!

BTW...I have Saturday off and We can run at Little River Academy at Temple...just let us know before Friday.

The truck has stock internals, Exhaust and an IP Z-tube Semi-CAI. and I will let you know by tomorrow evening if it will be this weekend or next weekend (more than likely this weekend). I will run it and race it just like I drive it in, on DOT tires and all.

I also need directions to that track, Little River Academy, from I-35. Gate times, Entry fee cost and what not, I hate getting caught short on cash for burgers and stuff.

Looking forward to getting schooled by V-6s and one of those massive Pushrod V-8s.

I think it is 7-10 to get in and another 5-10 dollares to race Time/Only.

BTW what are DOT tires??

And I wouldnt go as far as saying massive pushrod motor for a 318 but nonetheless pushrod for sure and enough im sure to eat a v8 which has double the cam that I do...heh

I will have to remember the exit number but ill find out today or tommorow.

Wait, Jeremy is sayin his 3.7 is gonna smoke you? My truck is the same set-up as jeremy's except I have the 4.7. I would be glad to line them up if I lived closer. I think I know who you are,old fool, from other boards. Do you post on dakotausa under a different name?

Mike what does "if you're gonna run me...good luck" mean? Your truck runs a 15.42 man. That doesnt exactly give you bragging rights. lol

I'm glad you are confident in your 5.2L Mike, being able to eat a OHC, 2 CAM engine and all, gets me all worried and stuff. But I will not back down from a good challenge, h3ll fear builds excitement. Oh yeah, DOT tires means Street Legal 'Department of Transportain' tires with a Minumum of 3 water groves at least 3/32nds of an inch deep.

014.7, yes i do post at Dak USA under a different name, and also on my Dakota Forum under the same name as Dak USA.

yes and thank you sir. I like the way it looks with the low pros on stock rims. I think the stock 16s are about as good a looking rim as you can get for the Money.

If I was to put some new rims on my truck, these would be the ones

But they don't make them in a 16. and I can't get 15s around my front Calipers, I've tried.

Wow... It looks like I have missed a LOT around here :-) Is there any way someone can get a video of this race?

Nothing personal guys, but I'm putting my bet on the 4.7L! stock to stock, the 5.2 wouldnt stand a chance against a 4.7L... I test drove 2 identical trucks when shopping for the current truck I have.

One was a 99 5.2L cc 4x4 3:55 LSD auto, mine is an 00 4.7L CC 4X4 3:55 LSD auto. I'm here to tell you that my truck feels much mpre "spirited" then the 5.2L did... Also I had a hard time hitting the 117 limiter with the 5.2, the 4.7L just keeps wanting to go! the 5.2L did seem to have more of it's grunt available sooner (maybe around 1800) but around 2500 I can really feel the 4.7's torque kick in (and it pulls hard all he way to the 6200 RPM limiter) the 5.2 ran out of breath around 4.5K or so.... you see what truck I drove away with, but the 5.2L was still a nice running truck! stepping up from a 3.9L, the v8 feels like a viper :-P

Best of luck to the both of you, It sounds like its gonna be one HELL of a race!

daffy,

in the same sense, i test drove a 2002 4.7 durango and drove off in a 2000 5.2 durango :D

i just had mine dynoed with a friend that has a 4.7 durango.

me
2000 5.2 auto
184 rwhp
261 rwtq

him
2002 4.7 auto
185 rwhp
244 rwtq

both stock.

but i'd give it to the 4.7's tranny... better gearing makes it feel quick... but i'd rather have low end torque. If ya could see just how flat my torque curve was, you'd probably give that 5.2 another look

Thats what i am saying Intense39!! My torque
curve is pretty broad and they strted at like
2100 rpms which was a little late for dynoing.

No I dont put money down because I simply
dont believe it.

But if he says all he has got is CAI...then I dont
believe he is going to beat me.

Nothing against my track time but I can hit
about a 15.2 with a decent launch my last
launch was a 15.4 because all i did was spin
before the first time. So this time i let it go at
1800 rpms and it ripped out of the hole and
got a 2.188 60' which is rather decent for a
dam near stock truck.

Old Fool How many HEMIs have you raced? Ill
tell you what to give you an idea about how
quick I am....I can stay in front of a RC Hemi
about a truck length or more all the way up to
70 mph....then they start realing me in a bit but
I have never been passed by won off the line.
Plus the HEMIs had 3.92s with suregip or
maybe Open...eith way they gripped and I
spun a little and that is the outcome everytime!

I hope to look foward to this race it will be
interesting and I will be able to see what i can
do against another worthy dakota like a 4.7L

BTW Intense39 I will check that site out and let
you know.

Me and my son will be there Saturday. I really need a time for the gates to open and some directions. I hate being late.

Yes I have raced a dozen or so Hemis at sanctioned race tracks, I had one even stay a couple truck lenths behind me all the way to the end of the 1/4 mile, but he had some good mods. And he was a regular cab. Most of them are somewhere between 5 and 10 (and the Quadcabs I some times wonder if they didn't break down at the line) truck lenths back.

Here is part of a time slip from down here in San Antonio (right lane of course). My reaction time was definantly off that day, and I haven't run a .500 light, sportsman tree in a long time. Although I did pick up a trophy at Alamo Dragway Easter week, last year before it closed for Reaction Time, cut a .501 light.
