I`ve got an idling problem under all conditions, mostly when engine is warm with foot on brake.
I took it to the dealer, they said they couldn`t "duplicate it" ! The engine idles rough!, you don`t have to duplicate it!
Am I the only one with this problem?

I also have this problem, so I'd say no, your not the only one. I thought it was from my KRC 212 cams but apparently not. I havent looked into a fix, maybe someone else has but I've heard there is none.

There have been several fixes discussed here in the past - the problem could be in the IAT or the TPS or if it has always been that way due to a low idle you can adjust the idle screw. It could also be as simple as low idle condition caused by a dirty air filter. A low idle will be a rough idle. Solution will vary depending on what the cause is.

Gave mine a good throttle body service and the rough idle went away. I had a lot of carbon build up from city driving.

I've got 80K miles on my '01 4.7 currently. From my experience, the state of cleanliness of the throttle body is the biggest factor in the 4.7's idle quality. A bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel tank about every 5000 miles helps, too. My favorite is STP Concentrated (black bottle).

I meant IAC (idle air control) not IAT in my earlier post to this thread. Pat - has your truck always idled rough ? If so, your truck might just have a borderline idle that's just a little too low. If that's the case, turning the screw that sets the base idle might be the cure for you. I had to adjust that when uprading to a 68 mm TB on my 2000 over a year ago, it hasn't caused any problems. For most people whose trucks used to idle ok that wouldn't be the best solution; but if yours has always had the low/rough idle I'd give it a try.

My 2004 v8 4x4 with 30000 miles had the same
problem. Then it started shifting really rough with
some slippage. I thought it was the solenoid.
After a quote of $625 to replace I bought a $6 can
of trans-x. Put the can in and fixed the shifting
problem within 30 miles. A bonus was it idled much
better, right around 550rpm. Try it for $6.
Another mechanic told me a viscosity additive for
type 4 trans fluid has helped dakotas with shifting
issues. My two cents....

I'm On my 4th Dak. Always have had rough idle on all of them. Used injector/fuel system cleaners...hardly any improvement. Had garages give the "vac" treatment that costs ussually between 80-100.00, no real improvement there either. Anyone have this issues when using the OEM Champion spark plugs?

rough idles? check to see if plugs are factory Mopar or Champions. Had the same issue with rough idles and had my Bosch platinums replaced with Mopar plugs...no more rough idle

I have a rough idle that goes from about 600 to around 1300 and drops back to 600 than sometimes stalls out. When I'm driving there is no problem its just the idleing. I tried cleaning the throttle body with spray cleaner, there was some carbon built up that cleans away easily enough. This seemed to help a little but that didn't last long.
