I've got the 40 single-in dual-out as well, it's plenty loud. :)

Kind tinny sounding in the cab though, but outside it rumbles nicely. This is probally due to the rear-exit setup I've got. If I'd dumped it, it probally would sound better.

I have a single in dual out 40 series on mine and it sounds great. Glasspacks will be a little louder, but the tone seems to be a little more speratic and slightly higher pitched (I don't know exactly how to describe it). You will also have that annoying popping sound as you let off the gas after a hard acceleration. In my opinion, the glasspacks don't sound nearly as good.

I had a flowmaster on a v-6 not long ago and it roared alot inside but didnt get a good low pitch outside. Coulda been the v-6. Many years ago I had duals on a 350 Chevy with glasspacks. That was the shiat back then. I had them turned around backwards (so the fins inside them were pointing to the rear) to make em louder...it worked.

80 series flowmasters are the loudest, but if you waant those be ready to fork up some cash.40's ars the second loudest then 50's then 30's then 70's wich are the quietest. I have 50 series on my 91 318 with no cat.

My 40 series Flowmaster delta flow. Single in/Single out. The Muffler was a 3 inch (by mistake) reduced to the 2 1/2 inch pipe in and out with a 3 inch tailpipe.

I may go true duals next. I just hope it still sounds THIS good when I do!

You can also buy 40 series NON delta flow (old school) if you can find them. They are louder than delta flows.

i've got 1 50-series on my 95 318,w/o a cat.its pretty loud,it seems almost louder at lower rpms.BTW the reason alot of glasspacks sound crappy is their often on low-performance engines with exh.manifolds,2in.pipe,and no h-pipe or x-pipe.if you have headers,2&1/2 pipe an some kind of crossover it'll sound alot better.i recommend the dynomax bullet mufflers, their higher quality than the usual"muffler shop"glasspacks,an they have a more durable ceramic packing than the fiberglass

I had glass packs on my Mustang. Had headers, no cats, built 302. It idled nicely from the lope the built engine had and didn't seem to have that CRACKLE at higher RPM's that you hear on the stock Chebby trucks running around the hoods.

That's been some years now. I dunno if I'd go back to that from the Flowmaster(s).

Most of that cracking and popping on those Chevys was the lean fuel mixture they often came with from the factory back then. That also was one of the reasons Chevy used to burn up so many exhaust valves.

My Big Block Dodge had cherry bombs and headers on it and it didn't crack and pop. It did rap when you downshifted. I later switched to the 50 series. They weren't loud enough. I'd go with the 40's.
