My 360 is not stock by no means. It's been rebuilt/mildly built. It's actually a 370 6.1 ltr now. With a towing cam, headers, high flow cat. Too many upgrades to list on here. This build cost me $7,000. BTW mines a 96 4x4 5spd. With 3:21 gears.

I upgraded to the 24# injectors. Truck runs a lot better. I'm still working on getting the correct tunes for my SCT tuner. I also have an M1 intake that needs to go on yet.

5.2L to 5.9L swap
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello I have a 98 5.2 4x4, I want to put a 360 hemi in out of
a Dakota r/t. I looked threw forums and I noticed most people
are swapping the 318 mag for the 360 mag, what would I
have to do in order to get the 360hemi to work and run
properly? Will I need a new computer, the trans I have is 3
months old freshly rebuilt, my glove box says it's the 44re,
but the guy who rebuilt my trans says it's not so idk if it will
fit? Please someone help me, my 318 is leaking out of every
seal and I need a new motor pronto, and the way I look at it
if I'm gonna spend money I might as well make it better

I haven't found one yet but either a 98-01 Dakota r/t or a 01-
03 Durango with the hemi, but it doesn't matter to me what
ever is easiest to do, I just want the 5.9 hemi for it

The late model hemi is 5.7 345c.i. and totally different from the 5.9 360c.i. Magnum. 98-01 R/T will have a Magnum 5.9 360 which would be virtually plug and play with the 5.2. The late hemi will be a lot of work but if you can fab and wire electrical, go for it.

Oo well it's my daily driver so I think il stick with the plug and
play 5.9, I always thought those were hemi's but they are still
magnums? Well what all would have have to do to get a 360
out of an r/t to fit in there and run and drive properly?

ay that swap if you get the 360 out of a ram you need to get a oil pan for a dakota r/t or a durango that has a 360 in it, i did a swap in my 97 dakota and i got a 5.9/360 out of a durango but other wise it bolts right up , the oil pan from a ram will not clear the frame on the dakota and you cant use a 318 pan on a 360 the rear main bearing cap is bigger

motospike925,
you can use the 318 oil pan on the 360. just need the 318's oil pickup tube. I know that this does work, I'm currently using one w/o any problems on my 360 in my Dak.

i have a 97 dak 5.2 this might sound a little silly... i'm thinking of putting a slant six hemi magnum with a blower nos and twin turbos and an old push-button auto trans. my question is what size injector to use in the carb. and would a commodore 64 computer be powerful enough to run the engine management system. any help would be appreciated, cause i sure could use it. tx.
