Subject: Question about the R/T
IP: Logged

Message:
Every time i drive an R/T, i notice that they aren't very fast from 0-45. One day while i was test driving one i asked the guy about it and he didn't know. So he wanted to drive and put it into low gear, then it took off like i would expect it to. What is up with that? After that i decided i would go with 4.7 5-speed over an R/T anyday.

Should have moved the floor mat out of the way! :P

Sounded like that was the case, OR... the TB cable wasn't adjusted correctly to allow for a 1-2 shift...

Mine barks 2nd gear!!! Even with the new 2400 stall converter!

I have been to the track with stock R/Ts and stock 4.7L 5-speeds several times. The R/T is always .3-.5 tenths faster, maybe the manual tranny just feels faster to you. Plus with just a few modifications the 5.9L is much much faster.

You must live in a metropolis or somthing. I had to drive 30 miles to find a dealer to get what I wanted. Then some happy camper got to drive it 250 mi. to get it here. But I'm the happy camper now.
passing on the R/T will be a mistake. Mine didn't perform on the way home like I thought it should either. (Blamed in in being used to the '95 Z-28
I traded in). A couple of hundred bucks later,it's still not a modded Z-28, but that thing was yard art anyway, and I don't have to fall in and crawl out of my R/T. The 5.9 has plenty of un-tapped power. Don't make a mistake and underestimate.
