Subject: Replacing rotors with bigger ones?
IP: Logged

Message:
For anyone who has rims larger than 16 inch... has anyone tried replacing the rotors and calipers on the front end of our daks? I'm on my fourth set of pads/rotors/ and drums/shoes on my 99 dak with only 80 miles. This is getting pricy. I just replaced in March 2002, Raybestos Pads and Rotors up front and started to feel that pulsating feeling again so I said "oh oh better check for warpage". And to my dismay, all the pads are cracked and now the calipers are shot because they overheated.

Anyhow, if I got some 17 inch rims do you think I could find some bigger rotors and calipers some where? Any ideas?

I don't have an answer to your question but have a question for you.
Have you been careful to always torque the lugnuts to the proper spec EVERY time you had the wheels taken off and put back on. Just curious. Thanks for you input and good luck on your larger rotor question.

Very good point Big Blue QC it is very important to torque the wheels. Anything else leaves the lugnuts torqued unevenly. Even 10lbs of torque is alot of clamping force difference.

Hey,

If you really wanna go that route, Check out www.speedtweaks.net, under brakes. I noticed they list some Stillen oversized rotors that will fit with 17's.

I put a power slot setup on my 2000 after I had trouble with warpage. Works perfectly now and grabs like hell with no fade.
