I have a 4.7 with auto and 3.55 gears. At about 2400 to 2800 rpm there is a vibration in the gas pedal. Does anyone else have this problem?

I noticed this vibration when I bought my 2001 QC 4.7 (already had 17k miles on it).

I was coming from a maxima, which has no vibrations, so maybe i was overly sensitive.

It was only a slight vibration, so I quickly got used to it, But I did think it was strange to get feedback on a fly-by-wire design as well....

There's probably a harmonic of the engine that happens to be the resonant frequency of the gas pedal assembly, attaching a small weight tot he assembly might prove this.

I was told by a mechanic at my dealership that the vibration is exhaust drone. I feel it at 2000 rpm after the torque converter locks up
( when the TCC engages ). He didn't know of an effective cure, however.

but i never had a vibration in my gas pedal until after i put the new TB on and air intake. i have had the truck for 10 months and the pedal never vibrated until now.

when my truck gets out of the body shop, i am going to check the butterfly valve, and just make damn sure that it isnt loose.

I noticed this too on my 2K 4.7.

It was never there until after I installed the 70mm tb and 4" Z tube. It doesn't happen all the time either, so I tend to think it is related to some harmonic frenquency.

I was thinking of isolating the Z tube from the Tb with some kind of a rubber mount so there is no direct metal to metal contact between the two. This is the only place where I can see vibrations being picked up.

Any thoughts?

Keith

i guess that could be a possibility, i will look into that as well. but, when i had my old z-tube with my stock tb, the pedal never had a vibration, and it was also metal on metal.

My Pedal also vibrates after putting the TB on. It isn't too bad unless you are going on long trips. Then your foot starts to fall asleep. This assuming you don't use the cruise. I also have the idling issue. Are you guys having this as well. Any info would be appreciated.

smitty,
i also have an idle issue, sometimes it idle perfect, and sometimes it idles low, sometimes high, and somtime fluctuating between 200-700 rpms. it even died on me in a parking lot last week. i was hoping that it was just something that the pcm had to learn, but so far i still occasionally have problems with it. well, if you figure out anything, please let me know, and i will do the same.

My idle sometimes starts to bounce between 400 - 1200 rpms, just shut it of and restart clears the problem. Happens more on a cold start than after it warms up a bit.

Try putting it in park and rev over 2500. It will stick on the way down at @1000 almost everytime. Haven't found out what it is yet. Cleaned everything around to no avail. I thought Bernd had said they were researching it at Flowmetrics because this is starting to become a familiar problem. I haven't had it die on me yet though. See ya.

I do notice sometimes there is a Vibration in Gas Pedal only at WOT from a stand still! Could be that the air flowing threw the blades are much greater than the stock system. That something very minor verses the gain that I notice.

yeah it is minor compared to the gains that i got. it just sucks when my foot falls asleep due to the vibration when i am driving on the freeway.

as long as it is something that is not causing anykind of long term damage, i can live with the vibration.

I've had all the same issues detailed here.

They showed up as soon as the 70mm TB and 4 inch Z-tube were installed.

However, after the PCM took time to relearn everything, the idle issue is just about non-existent, don't know if the colder weather is a factor.

Even had a squeal when accelerating and/or when the auto tranny shifted...again, as mentioned, all my issues have basically stopped since I swapped out a bad RS 755 180 T-Stat that was opening before 178 degrees.
