ok i have a 318 and i want a 360 to go in it, now i know about the reflashes and how to do that but since my truck is a 1997 and the 02 sensors i think are going to be a problem, as long as i have my old comp reflashed will it work? or do i have to find a dakota/durango with a 5.9 cause in 98 they went to 2 upstream 02's. will the dealership reflash?

Are you sure you "know about the reflashes" ? To the best of my knowledge, the dealer doesn't reflash 318 PCMs into 360 PCMs - mostly just updates to programming, or changing vin #s. The custom flashes are more commonly done by people who specialize in that.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Well by "I know about reflashes" I meant I know you have to reflash your comp to the bigger engine. But since the dealer will reflash to another vin if you tell them the vin from the 360 that's going intour truck u should be ok. Right? But back to my original question what years 360 will comply to my 97 318

Uh no, not right. The O2 sensors are not a problem, and no, engines do not have VINs, vehicles do. You are thinking the dealer will flash a computer with a false VIN? That's a bigtime federallie no-no. Besides, telling the computer that the vehicle has a different engine (by giving it a VIN number for a 360 vehicle) will not give it the ability to run that engine properly. Do you have some aversion to getting a 360-appropriate PCM for a 1997 vehicle? See, that way you have the year covered and it already knows how to run a 360 (programming, not VIN flash). All the VIN flash does is keep the anti-lock, odometer, and other support systems working properly.

So would you say sending my comp to like socaldakota for a reflash with the year the 360 is out of? Or how would I get my comp reflashed so it has my mileage and all that. But. A 360 engine

what they are saying is:

You need a pcm from a vehicle of the same year as yours that had a 360 in it PEROID. Then the dealer can flash that pcm with YOUR VIN.

But while you're at it you should probably buy a performance comp for your truck.
