Often called IAC (Idle Air Control), its on the back of the TB when you remove it. Be careful not to twist the plunger when you clean it.

I replaced the Idle Air Control Valve and it still has the high and low idle.So I checked the vacuum hoses and also the vacuum hard lines they seemed to be ok.While the engine was running I sprayed carb cleaner on every vacuum hose and hard line I could find and it did'nt change anything.I'm still having this problem is there anything I missed here?I appreciate any help. Thanks Tim

have you checked for any stored codes? you know, turn the key on/off/on/off/on and the codes will display in the odometer.

did you check the TPS?

thats a good sign. that means no codes were stored.

now you need to check the TPS(throttle position sensor).

another thing to look at is battery condition. do you still have the original battery? if the battery is weak, it can still start the truck but will cause an erractic idle for about the first 30 seconds on a cold start. usually a low idle/ stall condition.

"now you need to check the TPS(throttle position sensor)."

with a DVOM, key on, engine not running, backprobe the center wire on the TPS and ground the other. @ idle it should read between .45 and .75 vdc. now move the throttle to the full open position slowly, watching the meter for any large jumps in the readings. at full throttle should read about 3.5 - 4.5vdc.

now let the throttle return to the idle position. if your reading is not exactly what it was before the TPS is probably worn. change it.
