i want to through a strait pipe on my truck. or mabey just a muffler. can i ditch the cat? its a 99 and the o2 sensor is right behind the cat so i know i would get a check engine light but is that all i would get? and what can i do to get rid of it?

depending where you live you may not pass state inspection without the cat. if anything get a hiflow cat and leave out the muffler. if your cat is in good shape you won't notice a huge difference if you take it out anyway.

im not so much looking to power as i am sound. i dont think i would go with straits but ditching the cat and just throughin a muffler in there would be nice. im in illinois so it really dont matter. i did this on my jeep and threw a cherry bomb on it and it sounds good and gives decent performance. it dosent sound ricer neither so i could just imagine what it would sound like on a v8
