Subject: DIY radiator flush need help

Message:
Hi,
I have a '99 3.9 v6 clubcab. i'm getting ready to do a radiator flush, and need to know how much fluids to buy. prolly will get prestone brand, seems the most popular at the local parts stores. how much chemical flush fluid do i need?
as this is my first diy service, i was thinking of getting some premixed antifreeze/water. how much of this do i need to buy? or is it significantly cheaper (while still easy) to mix my own? and if i mix my own, how much antifreeze should i buy?

thanks,
jeff

Don't get the premixed antifreeze when flushing the system. After you flush, look in the owners manual to find the capacity of the cooling system. Divide that by 2, then add that amount of regular antifreeze. Top off with water. The easiest way to service your cooling system (this is what I do) is to drain and refill every year. Then you can use the premixed antifreeze.
