Hey guys.. I know this is an ABS problem but what I don't know is how to find out which component is bad... I tried autozone and advance auto but they can't scan it for me.. Help?

Do you feel a problem with your brakes? Or is it just the light on? First thing I would check is the parking brake switch the pedal could be pushed down a hair and cause the brake light to be on.... and when you drive with the brake light on it will cause the ABS light to turn on as well. This happened to me a few months ago...

Hows your speedometer working? Does it work below 30mph? or does it jump. There is a speed sensor in the rear diff houseing that commonly goes bad. It will throw the ABS and brake light and a cause your speedo to not work at low speeds.

Wow, you guys are right on... I do feel a little braking trouble... just a little bit.. I can feel a difference... As for the speedo, it doesn't work below 20mph.. I guess then I will check and find out how to change the speed sensor..

I have a 98 4x4, and my ABS and Brake light were on for a long time, and my speedo totally quit. It would bounce around once in a while, but thats it. Turned out to be a chewed wire on the speed sensor on the rear diff. I repaired it, but now both lights come back on whenever I go over 60mph. Could it be the wire going bad again? Or a sign of a real problem?
