Well after a long time talking to people and trying to pick a good location for this event I have settled on St. Louis, MO as the spot for now. I figured it was a good center spot. The details are still being worked out as to what will be going on. I have a few contact to make and other stuff. The event date will be mid June 2002 (14th-16th)that gives everyone time to plan for it. Please let me know what you think and give me some ideas on what everyone would like to do i.e do you want to try to rent a track for the day or just have the show and shine. We will have a truck show and ther will be some goodies donated to give away. Also if you know of anyone that would like to help prepare the event or sponsor it plese let me know.

st louis? that's pretty far from Oregon, but i'll see what i can do about gettin back there. i'd vote for rentin a track for a day, bein as i've never had my little 6-er out on a track, but that's just my $.02

OK OK, so i'm alittle anxious to go, but do we know where this is going to be held, trying to talk to freinds but i can't find out what hotel to stay at unless i know the location of the event...is it going to be at gateway....pahhhhleezzz have it at gateway that would be soooo cool....ok deep breaths, deep breaths....

well it will be at Gateway . we are renting the track for the day. The hotel you will not have to worry about we are getting the rooms and it will be part of the price.

No. This event is open to all Dakota Owners as well as Rams and Durangos. The only thing that will be different is that members get a discounts on the costs

Actually, Gateway is in Madison, IL and for MapQuest, you can enter the following address:
669 State Route 203.,
E. St. Louis, MO 62201
Don't let the E. St. Louis thing scare you. That's just a postal address. It's actually located just to the North of I-55/70 at Route 203.
For motels, I would consider looking just outside of Collinsville, IL as opposed to going across the river. Collinsville is just a few miles east of the track on I-55/70. We are talking within minutes and a much safer place to park the valued wheels after dark.
But hey, what the hell do I know.... I'm totally new here and to this whole Dakota thang... 2011 miles and counting! But I do know Gateway International Raceway. Let's just say it helps pay for the truck.... ;-)

Hey man do you work for Gateway of something or do you race there. We will have the hotel information soon one of our guys works for a Hotel there by the track and we will have very low rates and he said they hav under ground parking to park our fine trucks. Hey let me know if you know anything that we should know about the track. we are workig out pricing with them right now and we are in the books as having thre track the whole day.

It's payroll based.... I do know that the date of June 15 is confirmed and on the 2002 schedule for the drag strip. There will be a regular points race the night before and that Saturday is splitting regular points race weekends.
A side note that you might need to think about... The Cardinals are in town that weekend and playing Kansas City so the downtown area will be packed. The Sat. game is actually a day game (1pm) so if anyone is getting to Gateway from the west on hwy 40 or I-55/70 through downtown, try to avoid times that will put you in baseball traffic.
This will also have an affect on downtown hotel avalability. If you have someone on the inside that can get enough rooms at reasonable rates with secure parking that would be a big plus... Underground parking tells me that it will probably be on the Missouri side of the river. If the location is actually downtown, that will put everyone fairly close to The Landing at the riverfront. Plenty of nightlife there with a ton of bars and live music, as well as access to the Presidents Casino and the Casino Queen. Again, with the Cards in town, there will be ALOT of traffic at The Landing.
If you need a listing of "prefered" hotels/motels that work with Gateway on securing blocks of rooms and special rates for events (both Missouri and Illinois locations) just contact the track and ask for Casey. She handles and coordinates special events for the drag strip, (which you probably already know...) and keeps a list of hotels/motels that they work with on a regular basis.

Just curious... Any vendor/display or aftermarket dealers interested in showing up for this? Still new to the Dak and all of what's available to tinker with... Would be nice to see some of this cool bolt-on stuff in person.

Of course there will be some racing. If you read above, they are trying to get the strip and some off roading done. Anyone with a Dak is invited. And I think anyone with a Durbango or Ram, also.
Any new words on the vendors yet????? Or cost?

I've been trying for hours to get to a dakotausa club website. www.dakotausa.com doesn't work. None of the links on other websites work. I am an enthusiast and I would love to join. I looked into joining last year and recieved several e-mails from Chris, but there was so much going on (new baby girl) I never got a chance to get back to him. Everything's settling down and getting back to normal now and I am ready to join. Any information would be great... Thanks
