Message: My old man has a 95 Dakota. I think what we did was take off the water pump and fan together, one unit. We put a torch to the nut to turn the fan loose from the pump. It worked pretty good. It will take two people though.

within this year the following has been changed: raditor, water pump, thermastat 2x, S-belt, fan, cap, cooling temp sensor, rad hoses, all relays checked ok, levels ok, no leaking My 80 yr mother told me the oil pump is bad; at the lower rpms its not pushing the oil correctly thus its overheating. is there a way to check the oil pump without dropping the pan?? anyone with thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated

Message: I recently bought a 95 Dakota V6. It ran great at first, but now I'm having some problems. First of all, the truck stalls about a minute after startup. It seems to heat up really fast, but I can't tell because my temp. guage is broken. My bro told me it was the water pump making the engine hot. Could that also be why it's stalling after a minute? Besides that, I had a transmission leak. After removing and cleaning the pan, I found I just needed to tighten a couple of bolts. When I got the truck, it didn't have an air intake hose or an air filter. Could it be going dead from inhaling all the tranny fluid smoke? Anyone, please help. Thanks.

Message: Hi, I am needing to change my fan clutch and I am having trouble gettin the fan off. The water pump pulley keeps wanting to spin. Is there a tool that I can get or somehing? I noticed that the pulley has 4 little pin holes in it. Does anyone have any ideas? I do most of my work by myself. Thanks

Message: try this-
squeeze the belt near the idler wheel (apply enough tension to "grab" the pulley) This should
allow you to break the nut free with a large wrench. Once done-installation is a snap.

Message: i have a 95 4 cyl 2.5L manual transmission. I keep having overheating problems. I have now gone through 3 head gaskets, I've replaced the head, numerous thermostats, the radiator, and the water pump (although I replaced this years ago). The first two times the head gasket went, it was just white smoke. This time, however, was due to a pressure buildup. The coolent spilled all out of the reservoir, but I noticed that the engine was not sucking any in (the hose from the radiator to the head was cold and not pressurized like it should have been). The fan never turned on, either, while the engine was overheating. Could anyone help this hopeless engine?

Message: I own a '99 V8, 5.2 Magnum...
I've been having a problem recently where my truck idles fairly high, around 900 RPM during some point in the warm-up, and the temp. gauge rises to almost the high point of normal, then the idle goes back to normal and so does the temp. once she's warmed up. And continutes to stay normal. I checked the coolant reservoir and it was bone-dry, so I've replaced it, it seems to be holding over the last few days. But no change to the temp. gauge status. Any ideas?
