I've got one that I've played with a little bit. Have been waiting to get some more miles on the truck before I do any hardcore testing with it.

Whatcha wanna know?

how does it work? I'm supposed to get one in the mail soon through BFg's tire deal, get four H,V or Z rated tires and a free Gtech pro. Now my question is how can the Gtech guage Hp, 1/4 and other stuff. does it hook up to the car's computer?

The G-tech Pro has an accelerometer built into it, which measures acceleration via g-force. Apparently there is a formula that it uses to calculate speed/horsepower based on acceleration, time, and weight of the vehicle. It doesn't hook into the truck's computer anywhere. You just stick it on the windshield (like you would a radar detector), select the mode you want (0-60, 1/4 ET, g-force, or HP test), and mash the gas.

They have a website that explains it a little better ... http://www.gtechpro.com

its picky but if you keep the variables to a minimum its pretty consistent. You need to find a level road that is as smooth as possible. Tempeture also affects it. It needs to read exactly 1.00 in the vertical position. if it reads less you need to cool the sucker down. I haven't had it to a track yet to see exactly how acurate it is. Last night i did three runs 15.58 15.48 15.57. Seems to be about where my truck should be based on other peoples times.

The deal ends this month so go out and purchase H, V, or Z rated tires that are BFG at discount tires. If you live in Ca I know that Evans Tires doesn offer that deal since they are not affiliated with BFG in some sort of club. Hurry the deal ends soon. Hey you actually get something worth while for free, a 139.99 value that actually is worth that much.

I used a G-tech at the track for a number of runs. The G-tech was always within about a tenth of a second but always showed about 3 mph higher than the timeslip. I'm not sure about any temperature issues with them though. More than likely, the G-tech is probably giving you a better idea of how much the truck slows down when it (the truck) gets hot.

I never did try and use the 0-60 feature or the horsepower part.

the manual mentions the temperature drift. If you hold the unit perfectly vertical, not moving it up and down all, it should read 1g. The acceleration force we are always feeling form the earth's gravity. If it has been sitting in the hot car it will read .98 or .97, if its really cold it will read 1.01. So before i use it i make sure it is reading 1g. Just another variable to eliminate to make me feel better about the accuracy. If yours doesn't respond to temeture maybe mine is busted.

The 1/4 mile MPH reading will be higher then the dragstip's clock because the G-tech gives your exact MPH at the end of the 1/4 mile. The track will do an average for the light a little before the end, to the end, when you are still accelerating right up to the end of the 1/4. I'd think they are pretty accurate for 1/4 mile times, maybe run the same road in both directions and average the results just to make sure you are on a level 'track'.
