Subject: Stroker 318 to 390. In a 3.9L??
IP: Logged

Message:
Can I put a 318 to 390 stroker kit in the 98 3.9L?? The 3.9L is just
a sawed off version of the 5.2L. So can i get the kit and just not use
some of the parts or is there a better solution to get more
horsepower and torque. Any answers or suggestions would be
much appreciated.

Crank will be too long. Without the stroker crank, you don't have a stroker.

I don't think it was a good point at all; but if you really think he had a good point - then I guess you should go ahead and try it. Let the other guys know how you make out. Experience is the best teacher for some...

Thats a pretty funny idea when you know the details of how an
engine works. I can see where you'd get the idea that it might
work since people always say that the 3.9 is a 5.2 missing two
cylinders, but that wouldn't work. You would be able to use the
same rods and pistons from the stroker kit, but you'd have to find
a crank made specifically for the 3.9. I haven't heard that anyone
makes them. You're better off just building a V8 to put in your
truck.
