Message: Hey guys. I spent the weekend visiting my sis and her family. We finally got a chance to put the toy engine kit together (4 cyl.). It was a lot of fun - and a team effort, although I alone can take credit for installing the cam shaft upside down & messing up the firing order :) I'll post the finished pics tomorrow, it is pretty cool, with spark plugs and carb & fan!

Was it hard to put together?
How can you put a cam shaft in a motor upside down?
Or did you install the camshaft reversed with the front of the camshaft in the back of the engine?

Message: I bought it off ebay. They're made by Smithsonian Motor Works, they retail for $65, but I paid $19 off ebay. There are over 100 parts, so it is pretty intensive getting it all together, but the directions are really good (they are a book!)
Yup, I put it in (cam) backwards! You had to build it too, it was a steel rod which all the parts slid onto.

Message: Oh yeah! It had a batter pack for a starter, and when you start it, the spark plugs light up to simulate sparking. It is really cool to watch the pistons go up and down & the little valves opening. It even had an adjustment tool for the timing chain.
