Message: Alright it seems like some of us like discussing the good old 80's. For the fun of it, post what kind of bands did ya listen to, what ya dress like, your favorite movies, things ya did back then, the kind of cars ya drove, hell it would be funny to see some old pics too (but in this case I guess you need a scanner)
I'll see if I can use my buddies scanner after work and get a pic or two.

so, not to incite a riot but I had to be honest.
Same thing for Pat Benetar.
BTW, after a couple of Kiss and AC/DC concerts, I went from early 80's prep to Captain Qualude!
So there!

Dress? In winter it was flannel shirts and jeans, in summer it was polo shirts and jeans. None of that Izod cr@p for me, though, Sears "Braggin' Dragon" knock-offs all the way. Woo-hoo!
Couldn't do much with the hair since I was already losing it, but if it stuck around I think I would have gone for the David Lee Roth look.

Anyways in Okinawa they had these unbeleivable video clubs with giant 8 foot screens and a stack of 6 Bose 901 speakers continualy plying MTV bootleg videos that was pretty cool, the fact that there were no women within 30 miles wasn't so cool.

Message: Yeah I really like the allman bros. Have a couple of their cd's and a few old albums. Charlton: I liked alot of those other bands too but I tend to judge bands based on all of their songs and on whether I can listen through an entire CD and not get fed up with the same sounds over and over and over again. Besides that I was only ages 3-13 in the 80's. I think my musical tastes for my age at the time were pretty damn good

Message: I miss the 80's!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our clothes may look too preppy by today's standards, but at least they fit us and we kept 'em clean.
The women hadn't yet gone to the refugee look and guys, well, they knew darn well what dragging pants meant (and it wasn't cool either)!
Kids did not go to school to blow each other away like they do now. Plus, we had more respect for adults and other authority figures.
The music was MUCH more upbeat and not nearly as mind numbing as now. I listen to Marilyn Manson and I'm ready to start my own dope show and jump off a building! Talk about suicidal.
Kids today are more jaded and have a very lacksadsical attitude towards work, school, each other, and basic human relations. They seem like they are so disconnected from day to day life.
Wall street had yet to take complete control of corporate america so you could still get a job and not get blown up to "maximize shareholder value" (although towards the end, that was becoming the norm) The world had yet to hear of Al Dunlap, NAFTA, MFN with CHINA (and the ensuing junk they send over)RCA still made boob tubes in Bloomington (with Mellencamp singing about a Pink House) W. PA still had some steel factories and jobs for AMericans Pan Am, TWA, and Eastern still flew the skies and Value Jet wasn't even a gleam in an Atlanta businessman's eye.
Kmart was still top dawg in discount, I know, I used to work there. Big Box stores had yet to saturate the landscape so you could still find a local hardware store and talk to a human being instead of a glazed face kid who today is more clueless than the actual movie.
So, I say, bring back the 80's!!!!!
At least the two presidents (3 if ya count carter)
weren't getting serviced in the Oval office using one of Monica's orifices!!
