Message: Ryan - I'm still towing heavier than that with my 4.7 and no troubles. You've either got some bad info there about the weight, or are reading it wrong. I'd expect a 21' travel trailer to weigh around 4000 - 5000 lbs; and be something your truck can handle. Both a Sport (like mine) and an SLT can handle much more than 2000 lbs - these aren't little toy 4 bangers. I've towed a smaller camper (around 3500 lbs) without weight distribution with no trouble too. The tranny cooler is a very good suggestion. Be sure to have a brake controler set up as well.

Have you heard of a company called Jake Brake? They make a patented safety brake system.

Message: The company is called "Jacobs Vehicle Systems" (many years ago I think it was Jacobson Engineering). "Jake Brake" is their flagship product. Anyway, the only light duty application they have is for a Dodge Ram with a Cummins diesel in it. Doesn't apply to gas engines.
