Subject: keep wife happy with more HP IP: Logged
Message: I have the best wife in the world!! We went from our 95 geo metro that gets 42 mpg to our new 2000 sport dakota 4x4 4.7L auto quad cab that gets 12-19 mpg. My wife wanted something that can get the 2 boys (8 and 9) to good fishing spots and hunting spots. Plus, I can sell the point that different mods will get better mpg and I get my HP. Just some ideas if your wife needs convincing for that throttle body, autolite plugs, z tube, cat-back, etc.

Message: What is the price for improved mileage? For instance, you add a modification that gains 1 mpg, from 14 mpg to 15 mpg. Next, let's say your modification cost $100. Cheap mod theoretically, but it will allow us to say "I need to travel XXX miles before I achieve payback from this mod." With gas at $1.45/gal, and mileage at 15 vs. 14, we are now saving $0.007/mile with the "improvement". So, to save $100, we have to drive almost 14,500 miles. Think about that next time you try to justify spending money for mileage. If you improve mileage better than that, you'll justify your cost sooner.

Message: As if the wife can figure that out. She just knows better mileage is a good thing and actually, she like the extra power. wife satisfaction=((increased HP)*(cost of mod))/(increased mpg). Therefore, wife satisfaction directly correlates to benefits/approval of husband. Correlation is direct inverse of past stupid things husband has done.

Message: Wife satisfaction = husband satisfaction
husband satisfaction = Increased Horsepower
Using the Transitive property of equality "if a=b and b=c then a=c"
Wife satisifaction is directly proportional and equal to the increased horsepower of the dakota.

Anytime that you can increase VE% (Volumetric Efficiency), you have the capability of increasing economy. Blowers do this (when you keep your foot out of the go-pedal, and a lot of the aftermarket TB's have shown this as well).
