 Subject: Motorized flip license plate?

Someone was telling me about a license plate frame that is motorized, and can be wired up so that by pushing a button or switch the intire plate and part of the frame would drop down then be pulled up showing another license plate or what ever one might want to put on it, then by pushing it agian you could go back to your license plate. I've been looking for this thing for sometime now, and was wondering if anyone else has heard of such of thing or knows were they can be ordered or bought. It might come in handy every once and a while. Thanks

I know of one dude, who devised a system of solenoids and bellcranks, to tilt his truck's license plate horizontal, so he could blow thru the EZ-Pass lanes in NY & NJ without paying.
I wouldn't want to be in his shoes if (and when) he gets caught.

I am still looking for a hideaway licence plate system, as seen in the movies "The Transporter" and "James Bond 007". If I cannot find one soon I think I might construct my own. It really shouldn't be that hard to make, I'm thinking of using the flip around technique, used for car audio receivers, where the face plate flips completely around showing the black back of the faceplate. If I make it, it will be very slim, lightweight, motorized, with no drilling, cutting, etc to the car itself.

If you have a "hideaway" licence plate system like mentioned before you eventually will get caught and charged with bullsh|t like obstruction of justice or something. You should check out the Photo blocker spray.
The photoblocker spray is a high gloss coating that can be applyed like spray paint directly to ur plates. It is so high gloss that it repeals light. When exposed to a camera flash the photoblocker spray overexposes itself, making the plate only a white blur. Best of all it is totally legal, undetectable except of course to red light cams, and any other flash pictures. Check it out:

Yes it's basic, but if u are looking to run toll booths and red lights this will do it. U can't go wrong at $30 a can.

I saw something on Spike TV. either trucks or horsepower tv. where they showed a motorized flip up license plate that folded under the back of the truck to allow clean look and still allow you rest the truck on the ground. might want to ask in the slammed daks forum. they maybe able to help you in that. as I cant find it in google search.

No, that's not it, and even if it were . . . at that price, it wouldn't be worth it. $200-$300 is more reasonable for what I am refering to. I think I can make one costing me around $150 in parts. I'm still working on the blueprints.
What I am refering to is a double sided plate frame (holds 2 plates), and has a small motor on the side of it which powers the gears, which then turn the plates over revealing a 2nd (illegal) plate. Then it powers back over at another press of the button, revealing the 1st (legal) plate again.

There is a license plate on the stylinconcepts.com website. Its not exactly the turn around plate, but I've been looking too, and that's as close as I'm come to finding it.

HI ya i no the prouduct that you would like, there is a company that makes its its called 007 number plate.com The only thing is its not as fas as it could be, and its 14 cm in depth, Ive been in talks for some time now about a company making me some, its very hard and annoying. I have a picture of the latest i dea they have come up with, they claim it will be just 2.5 cm thick, and will flip to another plate in 1 sec, This is the 1 thast id like as it means it just screws on to the car.
