WHen a Senator or representative assumes their place in Congress after winning an election, don't they have to take an oath of allegiance to defend and support the constitution of the United States?
If so, then Chucky Schumer, Diane Feinstine, John Mccain, and Ted Kennedy would be guilty of treason and also in violation of their oaths by supporting gun registration (and according to Feinstine, confiscation, yes, she has been quoted as saying that is her ultimate goal!)
Just wanted to know how these politicians can sleep at night after their attacks on one of our bill of rights.

Message: Not out and out confiscation, but a gradual erosion of our rights to protect ourselves from a failed criminal justice system run by liberals.
Example; True, congress probably won't pass a law outlawing gun ownership.
It will probably go something like this.
1. Ammunition tax and fees of 1000% or higher.
2. Gun liscense fees of hundreds of dollars
3. Must keep gun under lock and key and then surrender your key to the local police or constable.
4. Restrict ammunition qtys to perhaps as few as 10 rounds at a time.
Notice, none of the above proposals say antything about not owning a gun,or outlawing gun ownership but rather they are slight of hand methods to disarm the citizens of this country. Combined, they effectively castrate the second amendment without saying anything about outloawing gun ownership.
Reminds me of the motor vehicle law in Indiana....Indiana has NO law on the books requiring you to have automobile insurance. However, one must show "proof of financial responsibility" to get plates. Who carries 300 grand in the bank for liability or property damage? Precious few...thus insurance becomes pretty much universal.
Gun control,
just say NO!

Message: I don't think it was the liberals or the republicans that have mainly attributed to a failed criminal justice system. The main problem is population. There are at least 270,000,000 people living in the U.S. right now. 270 million!!! More people more problems...period. A good example of this is small town vs. big town. In a small town there is far less crime because there are far less people. Fewer people are less likely to end up stepping on eachothers toes and contributing to crimes being commited. In big towns there are many more people. People get in each others way and more crimes are commited.
No political party will ever solve todays crime problems. Period. Today's American families consist of about 1.8 children. This is just below the replacement rates to sustain a society. This is good. If left a alone at this level our population would slowly decline over the years...thus resulting in less crime. BUT...with immigration (both legal and illegal) our population continues to climb. Many of the immigrants entering the country illegaly have less education and less of a chance of benefitting society. With education comes the knowledge that having a family of 10 kids is irresponsible and endangers the quality of life of their children and all others in the U.S.
disclaimer: I am not just referring to illegal immigrants from Mexico and south America. Illegal immigrants come to the U.S. from all over the world and are made up of all races and nationalities.
So is the issue even gun control?

Message: Population growth MAY be a factor, but the main factor is an overall decline in what is considered moral and right vs what is wrong.
The Warren court of the 60's opened up some new venues in terms of individual rights. It also set the stage for a more relaxed criminal justice system. Gideon vs. Wainwright, Miranda vs. Arizona, escobedo vs. Illinois mark the begining of a decidedly liberal slant of the supreme court.
This combined with a gradual weakening of individual responsibility led us to the situation we are in today. It is quite fasionable to be a "single mom", its ok for the president to lie under oath about sexual escapades in the white house(he also lied to the american people), and to expect an individual to pull him/herself along and work and contribute, why, that's heresy!
The work ethic that built this country is badly tarnished I'm afraid. To see young kids today with such a callous and detached engagement in life strikes me as frightening. In my day, you fought with fists. Today, you shoot the other kid or burn his house down. In my day, mom & Dad ruled your house and whipped ass if you did not toe the line. Today, a kid can sue mom and dad should mom and dad "be too harsh" in their application of discipline.
We have lowered expectations amongst ourselves for what is condsidered proper behavior. Its ok today to not hold down an job under the guise of "totally disabled" yet still be able to walk, talk dress, eat, etc. All the while you collect a check from the government.
No, I feel its part of an overall decline in society which places more emphasis on "its not my fault" than on standing on your own two feet. Just look at the state of public schools today! Thank god I went to school in the 70's and 80's....not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than what garbage we dump in kids heads today!
Prison used to be a place you wanted to get out of in a major way. Now a prisoner can sue because he did not get his choice of crunchy peanut butter! Give me a break!
So long as criminals are running the streets and not behind bars, I will assume my own responsibility for my own defense thank you!

Message: I totally agree with you Gunman. Much of what you say goes back to my argument. If there weren't so many people we wouldn't have as many different...and often screwed up backwards opinions on how things are run. In my opinion we probably won't see any of things you say happen until we get a liberatarian (far right) in office. Repubicans and Democrats alike are both way to liberal. Seems that all politicians in office today try to hard to please everyone at one time and end up pissing everyone off. Politicians have a hard time pleasing everyone because there are so many of everyone. Trying to please 270 million of different sexes, races, religions, etc. has lead to polticians over extending themselves.
I went to school in the 80's and 90's and things have changed alot. I graduated from highschool in '95 and college in '00. Kids today seem pretty screwed up though. Plus you never hear the good...only the bad. Regardless...standards need to be raised and the politically correct crap really needs to end.

Maybe they need to drug test politicians also.
I suggest they start on Chucky, Billary, Diane, Ted (he'd flunk it hands down!)and last but not least Mccain. That is one sure way to clear the deadwood in Washington and would go a long way to downsizing what has become an onerous institution of corruption, waste, and immorality.

Message: Wanna know something different? I'll try to say this in a way that minimizes any offense to anyone.
I believe some of our judgement has eroded, in both kids and parents - and that also comes from a degenerate diet. I think the human race is getting weaker and weaker (not "stronger" or more healthy). We can see it in the fat kids, men losing their hair before they're 30, infants wearing eyeglasses, etc. All I'm saying is our genetics we pass on to the next generation are more and more dependent upon modern medicine, pills, prescriptions, etc., and that has weakened homo sapiens.
I believe what we eat radically and dramatically affects how we think, feel, and behave. This includes our judgement, decision making, mental clarity and awareness, mental capacity, everything.
Its been said that 68% of modern hospital visits are due to people not eating what they're supposed to (and we should all know what that consists of). Generally speaking, I think people used to get sick and die at age 65, for example. Now, people get sick at age 50, and are sustained by medicine, pills, prescriptions, hospitals, until the age of 80. Does that make sense? An erosion of our diets has eroded our judgement and decision making skills.
How does this relate to gun control? I believe people's judgement has eroded, losing sight of personal responsibilites, what's right and wrong, decision making has gotten worse and worse from generation to generation, and we end up having hundreds of new laws simply because people are unable or unwilling to make right, moral decisions, commit crimes, abuse power, etc. I know this is weird, but I really think our Standard American Diet (SAD) is playing a part in our erosion of moral principles. Clean up people's diets, and you clean up a lot of our societal messes we've created for ourselves.

The High School rifle team. Can you imagine that happening today.
We would travel to competitions by taxi or many times "School Bus" with multiple unlocked/unloaded firearms within arms reach. We also had lots of ammunition.
How could a bunch of rowdy teenagers be trusted in such a situation.

It mentioned how in the 50's, the big problems were "running in the halls, paper tossed in the halls, tardiness, etc." Now, today's problems are much bigger, like "bombs, rapes, murders, etc." I wonder what things will be like in 10 years from now! Thats really cool you learned how to shoot in high school. My alma mater wouldn't even think something like that today. But I did take hunter education years ago while I was 14. That helped me learn a lot about appreciating weapons and their usefulness.

This doesn't mean we should stop telling people to have kids...just far fewer kids. Far fewer means no more than 2. Two kids per family is the replacement rate. Then there are people who will choose to have no kids or one kid. This will offset those who choose to have more than two kids. I'm running of on a tangent here put you get my point. Back in the 50's our population was probably less than have of what it is now. More people more problems.

In 2000 there were 274,500,000 people in the U.S.
With present fertility rates at 2.1% coupled with about 1,000,000 imigrants per year. This makes an actual growth rate of 2.5%. The population doubling time for the U.S. is 76 years. If the current trends stay the same...
There will be 549,000,000 people in the U.S. in the year 2076. Granted none of us will be living then but our children and grandchildren may be.
But fertility rates are continuing to fall and immigration has a huge potential to fall as well. This means there is hope that one day we might be back down to that 152,271,000.

Message: I see how the Democraps are trying to exercise some unlawful dominion and try to force the auto manufacturers to make all autos meet certain mpg requisites, such as 35+ mpgs (on all autos!). This is how they get what they want, by passing some laws requiring the people to comply with their "new" requirements. So they get what they want without really making it forced.
Instead of passing laws making cigarettes completely illegal, they just make some stupid law like the cigarette taxes so heavy nobody can afford it - thus they get what they want by sneaking it under the table and under people's noses. They are trying to do the same with firearms. Sometimes I think the politicians just get bored and need something to do. So they will just make up some new laws to pass.
I think they should pass a law that says "For every new law we make, we must repeal two of them!".

- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.
The following are from Thomas Jefferson:
That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. -- Letter to Abigail Adams, Paris, Feb. 22, 1787
If we were directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we would soon want for bread.
No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure. -- Letter to William S. Smith, Paris, Nov. 13, 1787
Is it time yet??
Compare the above to the new liberal view:
"When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans ..."
"And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities."

You really should be sitting down when you read this one.
Gold Star Mothers is an organization made up of women whose sons were
killed in military combat during service in the United States armed
forces.
Recently a delegation of New York State Gold Star Mothers made a trip
to
Washington, DC to discuss various concerns with their elected
representatives.
According to published reports, there was only one politician who
refused
to
meet with these ladies. Can you guess which politician that might be?
Was it New York Senator Charles Schumer? Nope, he met with them.
Try again.
Do you know anyone serving in the Senate who has never showed anything
but
contempt for our military? Do you happen to know the name of any
politician in
Washington who's husband once wrote of his loathing for the military?
Now
you're
getting warm!
You got it! None other than the Queen herself, Hillary Clinton.
She refused repeated requests to meet with the Gold Star Mothers Now
-- please don't tell me you're surprised.
This woman wants to be president of the United States --- and there is
a
huge
percentage of voters who are eager to help her achieve that goal.
Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)
PS: Please forward this to as many people as you can. We don't want
this
woman to even think of running for President. May you sleep in peace
always...and please...hug or thank a Veteran for that privilege.
Think about this one !!! Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham
Clinton,
as a New York Senator, now comes under this fancy Congressional
Retirement and Staffing Plan. It's common knowledge that, in order for
her to establish New York residency, they purchased a million+ dollar
house in upscale Chappaqua, NY. Makes sense. Now, they are entitled to
Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it
becomes interesting. The mortgage payments hover at about $10,000
per month. BUT, an extra residency had to be built within the acreage
in
order to house the Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now charge the
Secret Service $10,000 monthly rent for the use of said Secret service
residence and that rent is just about equal to their mortgage payment,
meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying the Clinton's mortgage,
their
transportation, their safety and security, their 12 man staff, and
it's
all perfectly
legal. How many people can YOU send this to?
