Subject: '96 Dakota Sport Lift IP: Logged
Message: Hey all! I've got a '96 Dakota Sport with 3.9 liter engine. I called the dealership here in Las Vegas today and, to my dismay, the guy I spoke with said he knew of no way I could lift my truck. Then I found this site! Any have any input on how I would be able to lift my truck, and an estimated cost on doing it? Thanks in advance!

Message: Try a different Dealer. Though your options are limited, there are lift kits available for your truck.
A body lift will cost you between $100 and $200 bucks for a kit (depending on the brand) and with take you a few hours to install. It can be installed with only a few hand tools and only one special tool is required. The automatic shifter linkage needs to be cut and welded back together with and extension in the middle. I did have a problem with the cab mounts on mine and have details of the installation on my ’88 Dakota on my webpage.

Trailmaster is the only manufacturer who makes a suspension lift for your truck. If you hunt around you will be able to find the kit for around $1300. It also requires replacing the stock rims for rims with negitive offset. If you have a solid mechanical ability, you should be able to install it in a couple of days, but it is a major undertaking and the instructions are not really clear. If your unsure, Pay someone to install it for you. In the end, it’ll cost you about $2500-$3000 total including installation. I keep meaning to scan the instructions and post them on my site. I’ll have to do that this evening and I’ll post the page URL here later.
Check out Trailmaster’s website:
