Message: Well we dropped my font differential; Power steering, Anti-Sway bar, Upper & Lower Control arms, and the spindle are all off.
Now all we have to do is cut off the old bump stops.. bolt on the brackets... and the front should be done.
BTW!! anyone that's going to do this lift.. here's the odd tools we've needed so far.
7mm Allen driver (the thing w/ a Allen wrench and socket wrench put together), 18 mm wrench, and a 1 1/4" wrench.
If you plan on replacing your brake pads/rotors now is the time to do it.
Also Buy new booties for your ball joints. Because you will almost definitely tear them up when your separating the control arms from the spindle. (I didn't know about that so now I'm going to have 3 broken seals until I can get them from MOPAR)
OH YEA I promised pictures.. I borrowed my dads digital camera which has great quality pictures..
Lift Pictures more will come but here is today’s. Tomorrows will unfortunately be a lesser quality image. Because we'll have to use my camera and now my dads :( sorry.

Message: Thanks for the update Knobby. When I do mine, I was planning on installing new Moog ball joints since there is no way to avoid tearing the boots when taking apart the front end, I have asked alot of people about that and you will tear the boots every time using a pickle fork to seperate BJ from spindles. You still using the drop shock mounts on the front? Did you ask if a lengthened shock can be used instead? Just wondering cause I would rather use a longer shock than add another bracket if I don't have to:) Can't wait for your lift to be done! Man, you have got to be excited!
I just got back from a St. Patty's Day parade and partying at many bars after so I am in the Irish spirit at the moment:) Waiting for the next update...

Message: 2THEXTRM - Autozone is about .5 miles from my house so when we start putting everything back together we're going to get a new front shock to see if it will fit.. If it does I'll pick some good ones up from 4wheelparts on tuseday... With this drop down bracket the way it is.. I'm betting we could do a dual front shock setup... Although it wouldn't look very cool w/ these short shocks.
Super Bee - hu? I have no idea I'll be sure and check when I put them back on.

Everything else should just bolt on. Breaking all the locktighted stuff loose was the pain yesterday. Luckelly I DIDN"T even cut my self.. Isn't that crazy.. Work on a vehicle .. don't cut your hand, hammer your thumb or scrape your knee.. I found it quite strange. (now that I've said that I'll probablly end up droping my front diff on my foot).

Message: The lift isn't even the problem.. I forgot the instructions @ the place that the lift was shipped to and I didn't feel like driving 200 miles to get them. So I've been doing it my-self w/o the instructions or pictures. Funny thing is... I did it all correct.. Isn't that spooky. Anyway It's pouring here but I have the instructions the weather is supost to clear up tonight so if there is still light I might start putting it all back together. BTW I see why we need to use drop-down brackets for the front shocks (trust me it's unfortunatelly needed because of these upper Control Arms) I'll post pictures and you all will understand.
I should have the whole kit bolted on by at least tomorrow.. Then I just have to worry about the alignment.. WHICH REMINDS ME!!
ALIGNMENT PROBLEM ON THE 6.5" LIFT HAS BEEN RESOLVED!
I see why it was a problem and it all makes sence now. There really wasn't a problem but the steering wheel wouldn't have been staight but the alignment would have been fine. Anyway it's been taken care of. I don't think the 4.5" lift will have this problem but we'll see tomorrow.
The only thing I can say I wish was different on this lift sofar is I wish the upper control arm would be replaced.

Message: hey knobbyman if what you say is true about the alignment being fine but the steering wheel wouldn't have been straight. Then why would my alignment be f$$ked up. Just before they did the lift my truck was in for its services. The alignment was perfect. I would let go of the wheel and the truck would go straight. Now if I let go of the wheel the truck go to the right big time. I was going out to Arizona last monday to get it fixed along with the other noises i have been hearing, but my brakes gave out on me when I was going 70mph. The shop told me that the tires were rubbing on the brake lines. They said that there are not any after market company's that make brake lines for our dakotas. they recommended that i have custom brake line made. So no the alignment has not been resolved at least on my truck the test truck. They guy that designed the lift and did all the work on my truck Quit working at Chassis tech. He is only there the rest of this week and two days next week. I have to work the rest of this week so I can't go out there. But he is opening his own shop here in California and is going to be in LA three days out of the week so we are supposed to meet up and fix my truck.

Message: As long as Ian is working with knobby and Kerns we should give the guy a break! They ARE trying to get a lift for our trucks right! Atleast they are making one. It can't be easy or else rancho and the others would have one. I think the pictures he refers to knobby are of Kerns truck where it shows the brake line just hanging there. From what I saw in the pics the brake lines could stand to be a bit longer now after the lift.

Message: Ya know, I kinda gotta agree with Caribbeankota. I would think it would be in TruckinSuspension's best interest to work the kinks out of the lift components on the test trucks before submitting people like Knobby to surprises. A production kit should bolt up with little or no problem.
Any time you lift a truck 6" or greater you should plan on longer brake lines. They should be included in the kit or at least be made an option from the lift manufacturer.
The kit may be fine in the future, but in my opinion, some of these finer details should have all been worked out before the "production" kits were even offered.

It seems to me for a TEST truck that he is MIA alot and isn't giving back much feedback. I am glad that knobby bit the bullet cause atleast I know he will work with Ian. Since nobody else will say it I will. I think knobby deserves a discount because he is the one that is gonna help truckin suspensions sell this lift. I know that if he gets his worked out then I will get one and am sure that there are a few others waiting around for knobby's approval.

Message: I am one of those waiting:) I am glad I used some restraint and didn't buy one right off like I almost did. With working full time and going to school full time, I really don't have the time to modify parts to fit or be taking my truck apart every other weeked when an updated part ships. I want to install the lift once and maybe only have to check/re-tighten some bolts after a few hundred miles.
QUADMAN, I agree with your comments and I do A P P R E C I A T E Knobby taking the initiative and keeping us in the loop. I am sure he will be much more accessible for helping them make a great lift kit that is truly ready for production.

Message: hey Quadman I have been giving them plenty of feed back just not to Ian. Why should I call him all he is going to do is call Chassis Tech and have them call me so I can explain what is wrong to them. I did try to go out there to get it fixed this last Monday and so they could here the noises that I am hearing. But my brakes went out on me because of tire rub on the way out. Now I have to wait till the guy that designed the lift gets his own shop here in CA. Truckinsuspension is just a middle man in my cass. Chassis tech talks to Ian ever day He should know what is going on. So far the lift is ok except for the noise that I am hearing when I make turns. I thought it was the sway bar because it was lose. But I tightened it and the noise went away a little bit but was still there. I can't figure it out. Also that the alignment is way of so I am not driving it that much. It would have been fixed a lot sooner but the guy that did the lift disapeared for two weeks after he did my lift. Nobody knew where he was and knowbody at Chassis Tech knew what was wrong with the lift. So yes I have been keeping in contact with Chassis tech. Also people have been emailing me about it and I have answered there Questions. SO no offense taken. I don't get that much time on my computer as I would like. I even gave Knobbyman My phone number so I could talk to him personaly, but he never called me.
