Well they were welded on... Michael cut them off.. But thanks for the info Concerned .. I'm looking for input like that.

I'm actually hoping that i can drill out the old studs and put in 1/2 bolts and then just do some light welding to make it look good :-p

Honistly .. I don't know if 35's will fit. I won't know until someone trys it. Once I get my lift & tires on.. I'll have a good guess but no one will know until someone w/ a 6.5" lift trys it. I'm going to mount some 35's for laughs .. and we'll see how bad it rubs.

I already know, a buddy of mine has a 5.5 tuff country I think, anyway I know it's a 5.5 on his 99 cc and 35's are only an option for street use only and that's with some pretty heavy cutting and hammering. Another inch of lift wouldn't help either. We figured if you wanna go wheelin with 35's he would atleast have to add 3 inches.

Knobby,

Make sure you go with grade 8 hardware to fasten the hangers. I don't think the factory hangers were welded to the frame they use rivets. Seriously though before you weld the frame check with someone who knows, that moron screwed you up enough, you don't need any more problems.

Yep all Grade 8.. I found some distributers that are helping me find the correct bolts for some screwy circumstances.
Your correct I was thinking of the bumpstops not the rear hangers.. Sorry it's all kind of mush in my head now days.. I try not to think about my poor truck sitting looking all sad :(

Just so folks know, you can weld on your frame without hurting it. You just cant get it too hot. Thats what will weaken it. You have to have a good welder (man not machine) that knows what he is doing.

KNOBBY, I THINK YOU NEED TO FIND A "MIG" (WIRE FEED) WELDER. MOST ALL OF THE ROBOTIC WELDING DONE AT THE FACTORY IS DONE USING MIG. WE TYPICALLY USE TIG FOR ALUMINUM HERE AT WORK.

Hey Knobby, all joking aside, that's really how we do it. Well, for the most part. If one of us wants to lift our truck, a group of us (5) get together and make a night of it. Beer, half a pig, burgers or what have you. The latest project was a 2000 ram 2500 deisel. We put a 5 inch skyjacker I think(I drank more beer than eat pig) on it. We have done atleast 15 vehicles over the past 6 years or so. Everything gets done right even with the drinking. It's just a great way to spend time with your buddies. The beer is always cold and the eats are always great! I wish you would hurry and get this lift straightened out so we can do mine, cause that pig sure was good!

I just got a e-mail from Ian asking what problems I have what parts aren't working correctly etc. I got him all the information and dimensions of everything that he needed. And hopefully they will fix those parts and put some new ones in the mail to me.

Anyone else around D/FW is welcome to heh.. cook if nothing else ;-) I need someone that knows brakes & steering linkage.

Welp.. I got my rear sway bars attached now.. I just had to get bolts that fit correctly. Ian updated his swaybar bushings so that they will fit the factory bolts. I told him not to send me the new ones to save them some $$ but they have the correct deminsions so that there shouldn't be any problems now. Also all that parts that I did have problems with have been re-fabricated and are being powder coated as I type. I should get them sometime next week and then once I finish the rear end of my truck I am going to take my truck to a 4x4 shop in the area to have them make sure my breaks work and my steering. They also will make sure that my alignment is correct. I wanted to get some input from these guys for YOU. So that they can tell me what they think of this lift. Any suggestions they have will be noted and sent on to Ian so that they can consider them.

I just wanted to let all of you guys know that Truckin-Suspension has held there word to me personally and has yet to let me down. All the problems that I have been having with the parts I knew were going to happen because this is the first 4.5" lift. The All the actual problems though were because of the installer I had. I just don't think he knew what he was doing. .. I just wanted to make that clear to everyone becuase I DON'T want everyone to think of this company as another Whiplash. .. If you guys have any questions post them on this board and I will respond as quickly as possible. I have no problems getting more pictures for anyone or deminsions just let me know what your looking for.

Well off to see a movie .. I did enough work on my truck for one day.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I did a little bit of research today. I live down in Tucson AZ. For those of you who dont know thats only a two hour or so drive from mesa (where truckin-suspension A.K.A AIM is located). I stopped by a few of the local 4x4 shops, the smaller ones, and talked to them about lifting my truck. We got to talking about the only kit I could find was from AIM. Every single one of the places said that AIM's products were garbage and strongly encouraged me not to use their products.

They told me some stories about experiences they have had and stuff like that. They also said that AIM will promise you the world and after they get your money they just ignore you. That does kinda sound like whats been going on from these guys.

So I just thought I would feed you all this information and one of the shops said that he would give me a call to see if we could find some other way to lift up my truck. If not guess Ill just wait for someone else to develope a kit like some of you guys are. Anyway, best of luck to knobby and whoever else tries this lift out.

-Rize

Well we'll see how Truckin-Suspension works out.. There is plenty of $$$ to be made with this kit if they can work out all the kinks. If they don't then they just lost alot of business... And have one pissed off Knobby to work with..... Have you ever seen a pissed off Knobby? .. Trust me you don't want to ... I PROMISE!

Anyway so far I have faith.. But we'll see only time will tell for sure.

BTW! To try and clear things up yet again...

MY PROBLEMS ARE WITH THE INSTALLER NOT THE KIT!

True there were afew pieces that didn't fit correctly but they were REALLY close and Truckin-Suspension has corrected them and I will be getting the new parts tomorrow via UPS. I'll measuer those on Friday when I try and put the rest of my lift together.. If I can get it all together then I should be done this weekend.. If I can't figure somethig out I'm going to winch my truck onto a flatbed trailer and take it over to a off road shop... I'll list what I still have to do.

Starting from the back of the truck..

1. Drop down brackets (just need to drill out the old studs and switch it for the new hangers)

2. Install the new (getting tomorrow) drop down brackets for the T-Bars.

3. Instal the T-Bars

4. Install the Left uper Control arm drop down brackets & Uper Control arm (right side is already done)

5. Tighten up the stearing linkage

6. Bolt the Heim-Joint for the Stearing linkage on.

7. Put on my fron disk brakes & calipers.

8. Put on my tires..

9. Drive to shop to have my truck aligned

10. Get my new tires.

That's it.... Nothing else GAH! I forgot the hardest part (j/k) I have to bolt on the rear anti-sway bar dog legs.. That'll take all of 5 minutes.

AHHH HA! I did forget something.. the front anti-sway bars.. I haven't even looked at how those are suposed to go on.. I keep forgetting.

Anyway.. That's it.. 12 things left and I'm done. I just don't know how to do brakes.. that's why the front isn't finished yet.
