whats the deal, did they only make a limited # of daks with the 2.5l? i saw one the other day, it looked just like my truck but it only said "magnum power" on the front fenders.... dead 4cyl giveway...
maybe some day il drop a 408 in my dak, and put those badges on it (and a stock caddy muffler) LoL talk about a sleeper!!!!

I don't even get an badge on my '94. You can get real sneeky and put the cheep steal rims on and the gray plastic grill and bumpers.

thats a good idea lol also, i could remove the sport decals and just leave the DAKOTA badges... maybe a remote exahust cutout too. :-) i could go on for ever... too bad i still have a 3.9!!

i'm just like that... i had a trans am with a 400 and that wasnt even fast enough stock!! i modded it until I blew it up!! LOL LOL
that thing would scream though!! it had a mad cam in it (i dont remember the lift right off hand it was high though, I lost a lot of vacume) and edelbrock performer rpm intake and 750 performer carb, 4:11 posi, hooker headers to dual 3 inch exhaust, with burned out cherry bombs!!! it sounded like a nascar!!!!
needless to say my neighbors hated that car!!!!! thats why i liked it. I'm a dodge man through and through, but the price was right for a project car hehe...

The performance on my four banger pretty much sucks but the 28 mpg makes it worth suffering through it. But I think I could swap in a 2.5 turbo one engine from a car pretty cheeply. They have the same block and head as the engine i have now they just have beefed up internals and they could be moded to get 300hp very cheep. At least i have some peformance parts avalable for my engine those gen 3 guys and there jeep 2.5 have nothing.

Yeah that is what i am thinking they put the '89 and up 2.5 turbo ones in damn near all the cars including the the minvans. So should not be hard to find one with low miles in the salvage yards. I would just need to modify the intake and exhaust manifolds to make it fit but otherwise it would drop in. And I bet i could still get 25 mpg if i could keep my foot out of the boost.

If that trans am you had was a smog era one it probly only made like 150hp stock. How did you blow it up or it that just what hapens when you try and get more power out of a GM product the car just gives up LOL. Were those 400s big blocks? I sounds like that car would have been quite the screamer.
I am hopeing if I turbo charge my Dakota I will be able to get the jump on the V8s even if i make a few less ponies i figure i will have half the engine weight hanging out over the nose of my dak so that should even things up a bit.

yeah it was smog era, but it didnt have any smog eq on it. it was an 81 car with a 77 engine, trans, and rear in it.
yeah thats what happens to gm stuff when you modd the crap outta it. i got sick of messing with it, and one day i took it out for a spin around the block (ran the sheet out of it!!) took it back home, and it started thumping!! i just tured it off and thought nothing of it (GM). i went out a few weeks later to start it (winter time, i wanted to keep a lil oil running in it) and it wouldnt start. so i gave it some gas and it started reved up to about 4k and BAM!! nice lil hole in the oil pan!! LOL needless to say, i sold it for cheap ($300) to some one i know who drag races. the last i heard, he was gonna try and put a 327 in it but it got towed for not having tags lol!
your dak should run pretty good with turbo!! esp if you get a low rear end. i think it would be a neat idea for a twin turbo setup on my v6. i prob wouldnt have much turbo lag, but the couputer would likely freak out!!!

Oh man a twin turbo V6 that would be fun but yeah i can imagine what the stock computer would not know what the hell to do with its self. It must be posible though i think that intense dakota guy did it.

i gave up my 3.9 Monday for a 2000 cc 4x4 4.7L flame red DAK!!! i love it!! theres a pic of it in the dealer's lot as my profile pic. i havent yet posted my own pics, i took at home...
