Message: I'm interested. Would you be the one heading up this group buy? I've been looking very closely at this one or the CheckMate FX. The CheckMate FX is cheaper, lighter, and lower profile but it only comes in black or white. The Stockland comes painted to match though. I guess it all depends on the price.

I was thinking maybe Jonas could head it up
if he wanted, seems to be enough interest.
BTW I have one of those "checkmate FX" covers
mines black not a problem being that my truck is
red ,( sorta my color theme Black/Red ),anyway
I would rather have the Stockland cover 'cause
it opens wider and looks more high tech.

Message: So are you replacing your Checkmate FX? I was gonna use the black on my truck. I dont think it will lok too bad with intense blue. Besides the not opening wide enough do you like it? Any problems with it? I'm kinda leaning toward the Chackmate because of the price and it sits flush. My truck will be lowered soon and I want everything to look low. I dont want anything bulky looking on the bed.

Message: Sorry for the late reply , I work way too many hours!, anyway , no there aren't really any problems with it except that the flexible latches
that are used to secure the top down when closed
where placed too close to the edge of the cover
and now I have to forcibly shut the tailgate
to make sure it catches, could be my falt because
I did install 'em but they don't give you much room
on the cover to screw them in, there is about a
2" Aluminum frame around the entire top to fasten the hardware to, (gas struts ,the latches and the
long piano type hinge),the rest of the cover is a
Polystyrene core covered by a hard fiberglass
reinforced plastic, don't let the word "plastic"
bother you ,believe me, this top is strong, solid and rugged! BTW it comes with great directions.
also there is a piece of weather stripping that you put along the underside of the frame so you
won't scratch the paint and to help keep out water.
It's a good cover, very low profile ,I just want
a cover that comes down over the tailgate and sides and also one that matches the pearl flame
red and is lockable :)
hope it helps ,( kinda long though)

Message: Cyberwolf , one more thing ... you must drill into
your truck bed atleast 18 1/8" holes ,( I think
it was 18 if I remember right ), to attach the
long piano type hinge, one end of the struts 2 on
each side and the catches for the flexible latches
,again ,2 on each side.
I don't know how you feel about drilling into your truck bed. Here's a tip if you put silicone
on the screws before you screw them in you won't have a problem with water getting inside the holes
which will prevent it from rusting.

Message: Ok guys, SO YOU WANT TONNEAU'S???
Ill do the price checking this weekend. I have to tell you that its going to be hard to swing a tonneau cover, painted, and shipped for a cheap price. BUT depending on the number, we should be able to get a nice discount! Here is what I need: I need to know how many people are ready to buy if the price is right? Drop me an email, and then tell others to do the same. I will base the price on how many we can get committed by next week.
