Subject: Who's installed their Katzkin leather? IP: Logged
Message: I received my Katzkin leather interior today and I'm curious to find out who else has received AND installed the kit??
My kit was very poorly manufactured. I've got a 2001 quad cab, and the backs of the rear seats hang off the back of the cab by hooks. Katzkin did not even provide cutouts for the hangers. They also made the slot for the rear seat cupholders too small. The factory cover had a 5 5/8" x 2 3/8" cutout ... the Katzkin cover had a 3" x 3/4" cutout. One of the seat cover's attaching straps is hanging on by three threads. Very poor workmanship if you ask me.
I want to stress the fact that Jonas is not to be held accountable for this poor kit ... it all rests in Katzkin's lap. I just wanted to let the rest of you considering these kits for '01 quad cabs to be forewarned.
Maybe it's just my kit ... and I'd really like to think that's the case.
Somebody please tell me that their kits installed to perfection and that mine was just an "oddball".
Okay ... done venting now. Jonas is going to contact Katzkin on Thursday and see if he can find out what went wrong.

Message: I went ahead and instaled mine the day after I got it. Did all the work myself and it fit like a glove. Absolutely no problems... Total time to finish--2.5 hours. I have to take some pics and then post em up :)

Message: At least they must have the club cab kits figured out.

Message: Okay ... I'm going to take this opportunity to redeem Katzkin's credibility. I spoke directly with a Katzkin installer today and he informed me that I do have to "tweak" my covers a bit to make them work. I have to slice the leather for the back seat hangers and the cupholder. I just figured that factory replacement covers would have all the holes where they were supposed to be. That's not necessarily the case. Sooooo I will take a razor knife to my brand new leather seat covers and see how creative I can be!
If any other quad cab owners decide to try Katzkin leather, give me a shout and I'll fill you in on all the little things that go along with the install process!
My apologies to Jonas and Katzkin for flying off the handle on this one. It's been a learning experience for all of us.
