I talked to the guys at Checker Products to get some information about their Checkmate cover. He said he would knock $25 off each one if I bought 2. I don't know what he would do if we bought 10 but they run about $329 for our daks. I think it is the best deal out there. It is a fiberglass flush mount with optional quick release hinges. One problem for some is it only comes in white or black. If you wanted another color it would need to be painted. The reason I like it so much is it is the lowest profile on the market and the latch is hidden completely. Plus the entire shipping weight is only 75 lbs. They have a crap load of options also. They can also do custom sizes if you have a toolbox or something.

Well ... to add some imput to Checker Products. I manage an autobody shop and in December I ordered a hard cover (FX) from them for a 96 Ranger (sorry) long bed. Well I received a 6' cover. I contacted them and they told me that they would sendme a filler piece and to install the cover and measure the difference (duhhh Long bed = 7') but they insisted. We were doing some intence body modifications to this truck so we couldn't meaasure it until mid February. Guess what, we needed a 1' filler (which we didn't mind because of the Racer Back the xtra foot a the cab would work). Well We did not receive this spacer until late July ! What a delay ! Every call to them I made was another bullshi% story. Finally after speaking to the owner, Rich, we received our filler. FOUR WEEKS LATER !

The quality seems OK but be carfull dealing with them.

I noticed on the checkerpro website that their hinged soft tonneau cover is about $100 - 150 cheaper than LeBra and Sportsmaster. Is there a quality difference or just a profit difference?

Checker doesnt have dealers. They make it then sell it. That is a big reason as to why they are so much cheaper. From everything that I have seen their quality is as good and better than the competition.

Travis, this fiberglass cover is the lightest (and best looking) cover that I have seen. The shipping weight is only 75 lbs. That includes everything from the tonneau cover to the box. I was thinking like you about the weight at first but when I saw how little they weigh I knew there was no longer a question. Also, that extra 75 lbs might give those rear tires a little traction help.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've been looking for a flush mount tonneau for a while now. I dont like the ones that stick up and out. Count me in for a hard one, with quick release hinges and some other accessories too.

I installed a TekStyle cover on my 2001 Sport. Just your basic tonneau with aluminum rails and triggerlock bows (can be removed w/one hand). I bought it from Summit Racing for $199. Not bad, considering that I'm reasonably sure that it is the same cover that Dodge sells for $400, without the Dodge logo on it... :-)

Guys, I talked to a few suppliers but since no 2 people seem to want the same tonneau cover we cant really get a "group buy" however cal Randy at World Wide Performance Parts, he can get any tonneau you want and will cut us all a deal is we order a few.

You can email him at Partsdawg@kscable.com
or call him at 785-478-1106

I just got my '98 Dakota a few days ago, so this is all pretty new to me. It has a factory bedliner, and I'd like to install a hard tonneau cover at some time. Will I have to remove the bedliner to install a good cover? I see that World Wide Performace Parts is in Topeka, KS, and I'm just a couple hours away, so maybe I can swing a good deal then go pick it up and save on shipping.

Has anyone tried the K-cover folding cover? It's a four panel folding type cover and I'm curious how it is with leaks and freezing in the hard midwest winters.

I am also curious about the folding covers? HJow does the aluminum cover hold up? I really like the Fiberglass covers and the aerocover has the same idea as the K-cover but is made of fiberglass. Any feedback on either of these products is great. thanks

I thought that I'd posted a message previously about the KCover. I bought one (in October of 2001, I think) for my 2000 Quad Cab(it is a two panel folder), and I love it. I knew that I wanted a folding cover, but didn't know anything about them. I emailed them with questions and concerns, and they responded immediately, including faxing me a copy of the installation instructions. I can no longer remember the lady with whom I dealt, maybe Barbara, but she was very nice. They also have a question and answer sheet that was informative. Based on their customer service, I chose them, and am very happy. I live in Alabama, so don't really have much of a freeze problem, but I would describe the leaking as negligible. After most rains, there is no water in the bed, and when it has been in the twentys, temperature-wise, I've had no problem at all. I think that it's a top-notch product.

Mike you can always call the source at (909)928-1464. Janice there can help you locate a dealer or ship you one direct. I had the same trouble with my shaker hood so I just called the manufacturer. My truck has parts from California to Indy & up to Canada... Just getting the parts together is half the fun. Good Luck!!!
