I just recieved this email from Rick at K&N......

"Released for production. Once inventory is built up, it is released for sales. I expect that to be 2 - 3 weeks tops.

So it looks like this thing will be out soon. Don't hold your breath!

One quick question...
Would the K&N FIPK be better if for my 4.7 if I'm getting HO cams or should I get the HO intake to match?

I have heard people talking about an HO intake manifold from the HO grand cherokees as well as the cams and was just wondering if they need to be paired together or if the cams would work fine by themselves.

Wonder how much I will need to mod so it will fit with my bodylifted Dak? Mmm... I am sure with a little persistance and elbow grease I can get it to fit, that's one of the things I like how the 4.7 TB is set-up that anything you connect is to the front so you can angle it easier than the other magnum engines which bolt to the top of TB making it much more difficult unless you use a spacer to bring it up first. Counting my pennies until the actual release of this unit!

Im down this with this depending on price. I bought an Airaid a couple weeks ago, but not too happy with the design of how it sits on the airbox, along with the way the whole damn things designed. Someone let me know how much, and when they are coming out for sure please! Thanks..

Heres the most recent from K&N my letter first and then K&N's Reply as of today!

I was wondering about the FIPK kit for the dodge Dakota 4.7L motor. i recieved a part number from 4 wheel parts but i cant seem to locate that number anywhere on your web page. The part number they gave me is 57-1516 is this a valid part number and is this unit available for sale to the public.

Thank you
Romaine Alsbury

Dear Customer,
That part number fits the 2000-2001 Dodge Dakotas and Durango with the 4.7L You should be able to order this kit at your local auto part store or online. Hope this helps you out.

Thank you,

Wow, just got off phone with some HOT HOT HOT women from K&N, she said another 2-3 months before release. "They are undergoing rigerous testing" according to her. Who knows what's going on with K&N! This intake better be a hell of a good one though!

Well I stopped by the Trick Trucks outfit in Frederick, MD. (Phone(301)663-9055) yesterday, I told them the part number of the FIPK for the Dakota/4.7L was 57-1516 and asked what they could do for a price.

They spent about 15 minutes on the phone with K&N, and confirmed the part number. Then another 15 minutes on the phone with their distributor and concluded that K&N had 120 of the 57-1516's in stock and they could special order one for me for a mere $375.00 (claimed MSRP was $499.00) & they would have one to me in 7-10 days.

I don't know what the group buy can do but, I'm certain we can do better than $375. Not that these FIPK are all the same but, I bought (via a "group buy") an FIPK for my PT Cruiser for $190 shipped. I think they claimed that it listed for $329.00. We had about 25 in the group.

So who's in charge of this buy anyway? I'm ready for an FIPK, big trip coming up this summer. (-:

Hello all,

Been checking around, so far best price I've found is $225 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. However, we'll need 13 orders to get that price.
I don't know who's doing the group buy but times a wastin...

Anyone have a better source?

This is a reposting of my comments on T.E.B's group buy thread.

I for one fully intended to buy this thing!! It's simply in the wrong price range. For the price they're asking, they need to post some very impressive results.
