Message: WooHoo!!
The UPS Lady doesn't like me anymore (lots of deliveries in the last few weeks) but I received my MTX (loaded w/o amp) Thunderform today.
I have to say...this went in much easier than the instructions claimn. (Ok, so I skipped a few steps in the instructions...hehehehe...it pops right in if you move both seats forward and wet down the corners with windex.)
Jonas, THANK YOU for this part of the group buy!! :)
Country music never sounded this good!

Message: Has anyone else gotten the loaded with amp Thunderform? I still haven't gotten a straight answer as to whether it's the same as the loaded w/o amp model or totally different. MTX's web site does not have any information and Crutchfield's website had no further information. Does the amp'ed model have both subs or only one in place of the amp? I've got the "factory premium" package with the Cassette deck and 8 Infinity speakers. Am I going to have a problem adding the amp'ed Thunderform to my setup? Do I *need* a new head unit at this time? I plan on upgrading at some point but not until the MP3 head units come down a bit in price.
Thanks!

Message: The amped thunderform rocks. It has 2 10's. The amp is placed in the middle of the thunder with amp inside the box. It has rca's and connection to run speaker wire(so you do not need a new deck). It comes with a connection with a 10 gauge power wire ample enough to run the the batt., 3 foot 10 gauge ground, and a remote lead about 3 feet. I am not working the amp that came with it at all. I have the cross over off and the rf gain at about 15-20 percent. I have the Aiwa mp3 player as a head unit($229). I replaced the speakers with pioneer ts-(something). front 3 way and rear 2 way. I ran the speakers with the factory amp sounded like crap. I am currently running the speakers straigt off the deck. Sounds great. (the fatory amp is behind the passanger kick pannel)
a good test is
Madonna Immaculate album--track 15 Envouge
That digital recording is great. Nice and clear. I never head the differnt levels of bass in that song before. I like the sound of my 10's. I hear it in the cab but the whole world does not have to hear it.

the amp runs at .5 ohm and the speakers at .7 ohm. really efficent. The 100 watt amp is enough.

Message: Thanks for the info Jay! I'm glad I got in on the group-buy afterall before knowing all the facts and getting some "real world" feedback about it. To be honest, I love the sound system that I ordered with the truck, especially when I added a $99 6-disc changer. This thing surprised me by playing my CDR backups! Only thing is, I am looking for a little extra "kick" and it sounds like the amp'ed T-form is going to be just the ticket. For the record, I listen to a lot of metal. If it can make Country and Madonna sound good, I can't wait to hear my stuff through it!

About installation. How did you guys install it with the factory deck. I'd like to keep the rear speakers active, so just disconnection those and routing the wire to the subs is not really an option. For the life of me i cant really think how i would do it with out geting a new head unit. But that will have to wait. Oh yeah, when i do get a new deck, is there a way to use the factory radio controls on the steering wheel with it? Im kinda spoiled now, and i it just looks feaking cool to change the track with out touching the deck....

Message: Hey Glen,
Did you ever hear back from anyone on using the MTX setup with the factory system?
I've got the Infinity speakers setup in my truck. Figure the MTX's would enhance them a bit. But don't want to give up what I already have. So, all you speaker guys ... how do the MTX's hook in? Can I keep using my existing speakers and just "add" the MTX Thunderforms?
Thanks

Message: There should be 2 RCA jacks on the stereo for the box..but to be honest, I dont remember seeing them when I took mine out. It is definitly possible to do it from the stock stereo..Im just not sure how if those rca jacks arent there. Hopfully someone here can tell you exactly how...According to Jonas though, the GB runs out on Friday so hurry up!

Message: Yeah, I've not had my factory deck out, so don't know what connections it has. I'd be surprised if it had the RCA outputs though. Dunno where the factory amp is either ... might be RCA's there.
Hell, I don't even know if the Thunderforms will fit the quad cab right. Checked MTX's website and they only list the club cab.
So, if anyone has the answers.....I'm listening!
hehehe

Message: I'm doing the MTX with an aftermarket amp with the stock head unit. Does anyone know the amp lead wire color from the stock head unit on the CD/TAPE/AM/FM?
I know the factory amp is all line in, at least mine is.

Message: you have to go down to a good guys or a best buy and get a little part for about 25 bucks called an snr-31 or something like that. It has two RCA jacks on one side and wires on the other. You have to plug the wires into the stock head unit. I have a doge ram and it's a pain trying to figure out which wires go where. I think ill have to ask one of the installation guys at good guys

The MTX Thunderform does have problems lining up all 5 bolts with the factory holes - this has been an issue since the original mold and it looks like MTX isn't very interested in fixing it. Line up as many as you can... I've had my Thunderform installed now for about 9 months and I haven't had any problems with it only having 3 out of the 5 bolts reinstalled.

Message: What you can do for your seats is loosen the bolts that hold them to the rear panel and slide the whole seat up some and then tighten the bolts back up while holding the seat in it's upmost position. It's easier to do with 2 people and doesn't completely solve the bad angle problem, but it will make it less noticeable and you'll have less of a chance of breaking your seat if someone sits on it.

Message: The box is designed so the seat sits at a slight angle , compared to factory , so the seat isn`t sitting right on top of the speakers. The angle is built into the box , if you look at each side , you`ll see what I mean.I thought mine looked better and was a little more comfortable that way.

Message: Lol, for the record, it can't run at .5 ohm and .7 ohm, because the subs create a load for the amp, thats it. One load, and that amp can't handle .5 ohm I guarentee you :)
It is still the amp designated by mtx to be the best bargain one tho so don't get my wrong..
