That's because the automatic transmission equipped Dakota that never missed a shift was so far out in front of the Ridgeline that it was out of the camera frame...

So what kind of small trucks WERE behind the Ridgeline in the commercial?
I'm not sure why ANY real trucks would be following a Minivan chassis with a body cut down to resemble a Chevy Avalanche LOL! :p

I've seen that commercial soo many times. I haven't seen a Dakota
in it though. It's all Chevy Colorados, Nissan Frontiers, and I think
a Ford Rander. But i'm not sure about the Ranger. But I know
those two were in it.
And actually, if you check out the Dodge Rampage concept, it looks

what is it with manufacturers these days. most people i know(9 out of 10) dont like these roundy futuristic body styles. but they keep making them. that thing looks so stupid. it will probably cost like $40k too.

i still think the new dakota is FUGLY
the 08 is a bit better, so its not as FUGLY, but not as good as the 04 and older, GENI is still my fav
and depending on how you consider Generations, i like 87-90 body styles the best, motors were pathetic, but i like the bodys
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

now i own an 03 and i love it. i still thionk the 1500s gen 3 look retarded, they look like they sit WAY too low in the front.
sometimes i think my 3500 does as well. maybe i just need a leveling kit

The reason why they come out with these ugly bodies is because the designers are mostly artsy yuppies. If you watched "future cars" on discovery channel and pay attention to the designers they are all artsy, "pie in the sky" types more concerned about designing cars to be entertaining than attractive, and more interested in being engineers than designers
