Subject: Any comments on Gears?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was looking to put in new gears , 4.10 ratio for my 01 R/T, i'm really hoping that they perform as i good as i think they will, well anyways
I never see any posts anout gears so i thought i'd ask, i already did a search but i didnt find what i was looking for on this site (didnt look that long though).

But any comments or advise or experience with new gears preferably the ones i'm talkin about will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

what gears do you have right now?
My little v6 has 3.21 gears with my 5 speed. I have so much low end torque that I can shred my tires in 1st, spin in to second, and occasionally chirp into third. I plan to put in 3.92's in the spring since they are sometimes available from car-parts.com for a good price. I figure with that combo, my little truck will be one awsome sleeper, and tire recycler.

Going from 3.92 to 4.10 won't be much of a change. If it were me I'd go with 4.56. Just my 2 cents.

What would you guys recomend for a 4.7 auto with 355's. I have a blower on it already and want to get my 60 foot times down but i also drive it every day. I was thinking the 392's but are the 410's not that bad?? I don't want to be sitting at 3000rpm at 100km on the highway.

I'm going to swap my 3.55's out for 4.10's when I get the chance.
I've calculated the speed vs. RPM's a few times. With 4.10's and the tall OD gear in the newer 5-45RFE tranny you will still be sitting pretty low for RPM's in OD. Some guy in here threw in 4.56's in his 4.7 auto and loves them.

Click on my banner below. Then look down the page. I have a link to a 4 wheel website that has gear calculators.

I have 3:92 behind a 4.7 5-speed. The stock tire diameter was 29", but I went with a R/T 17x9 with 255/55/17 setup, and speedometer correction (28"). 2500 rpm = 72 mph now.
