Subject: Silly Honda!

Message:
Today I was going down the 101 and about a mile up was the exchange to hit the I 10.

So I'm in the left lane already and in the middle lane is a slower SEMI I'm getting ready to slowly pass. Behind that was a Stupid Honda Hatchback. So I notice him look like he wanted to get up to the Semi's a$$ and most likely squeez in front of ME instead of getting behind me. But I closed the gap just in time by edging my speed up. Then I hear his fart can get louder and he darts around the Semi on the right side. As he disappeared from view around the Semi I thought no way that f#cker should cut in front of me so I nail it. It was like no time at all I hit 100+ and as that f#cker came in front of the Semi and started changing lanes to the left again just before the freeway exchange he looked over to see he was AGAIN behind me. I bet he was like "what the f#ck? I was FLOORED and this bigger truck blew my doors off!"

It was great to shock that damn Ricer like that!

Then of course after we went onto I 10 I didn't want a ticket so I satyed out of the left lane and he did his little RICER fly by. What a loser!

I don't hate all Japanese cars, just ricers. To me, just because it's Japanese doesn't make it a ricer. Ricers are the ones with more stickers than a NASCAR, huge wings taller than the roof of their car, mufflers the size of Oscar's trashcan, and fake emblems and badges. I love Evos, Supras, 350 Z's, Skylines, NSX's, and so forth. Actually Civics, Preludes, Celicas, etc, aren't that bad as long AS THEY ARE NOT RICED OUT! Sad thing is, I know of a few local Civics that will murder my r/t:(

If all you have to do is scoot around town they're fine. Just don't try and carry anything more the grocery's with you. My Honda Prelude handled great put wouldn't hold but 200 pounds of feed, therefore, it was useless. You should have seen my Rocky with six hundred pound in the back and me and my two hunting dogs in the front. Probably would have made a pretty good hillbilly cartoon.

Well, actually, comparing horsepower is still not fair. It is the horsepower per liter that makes an engines' output impressive. The top cars as far as that goes are the S2000, Evo, Porshe Turbo, WRX STi, Ferrari Modena, etc. If you didn't notice, NO American cars are in that league. Most of those cars, however, are super expensive exotics with lots of technology, and no pushrods. As far as them being lighter, that doesn't matter either. It's the power to weight ratio, and even more importantly, the driver. I've seen 750whp Civics that turn low 10's-high 9's, but how much did the guy spend to get it to do that? Those cars are better left to road courses and autocrossing where they have a bigger advantage than anywhere else. The Supras and 300ZX's I can understand, because they are larger and heavier. But a stripped out, boosted, bottle-fed, 11 sec Honda CRX; what's the point??????

I haven’t seen any 8sec 1/4's from a full body import yet. There is a MOPAR (slow unreliable gas guzzling domestic pile of crap <-- things I hear at the track)at the local strip that does 8's all day long and it looks like it could be driven on the street. The only thing that gives it away is the big fat tires on the BACK and the ungodly pounding in your chest from a massive engine idling by. No fart tube needed there baby!
There is no comparison... If you like imports, Great! They can be respectable. But comparable? Not a chance.

I must agree. Although a 4 cylinder can produce the same power as a v-8 just think about how man $$$ you have to put in it to make like that though. Dont get me wrong I love the Subaru Wrx and the Lancer Evo buts thats it.

It would be interesting to dyno a ricer at 200,000 miles, and a comparable V-8 at the same mileage. Guess which "survivor" would get their horsepower money's worth? Uh huh.

Ok let's put identical engines into two vehicles. Vehicle number one weighing 2500 pounds and vehicle number two weighing 5000 pounds

You tell me how vehicle number two wins in the 1/4 mile, all other things being equal.

It doesn't. Don't BS me. Weight doesn't matter. Maybe for 100 pounds is doesn't but for 2000 or more pounds it does.

Nothing wrong with a Honda if you want a "car".

If Honda ever builds a pick-up it we be a fine truck I am sure but
like all ricers .... When it's worn out, it's worn out !

How many 15 year old JAP cars do you see on the road?

Not trying to be a jerk, but if you had read my post entirely, I said it was the power-to-weight that mattered. Of course if you put identical engines in cars or trucks with different weights, the lighter of the two will win. That's common sense. What I'm trying to say is that a "ricer" with some mods can keep up with a heavier car with a considerable greater amount of power. Of course the weight matters, but only related weight it has to push. That's all I'm saying. In other words, that's why a Neon SRT-4 (230hp, 2,700lbs) will almost keep up with Lightning (380hp (I think) and around 5,100lbs). Was I clearer in my explanation that time???? Hope so. But hey, I'm not flaming American cars and trucks beecause I love them. Nor am I trying to glorify imports (from Japan or anywhere else), because I have never owned one and am not sure if I ever will. And I'm certainly not trying to dis anyone or start an arguement. I'm merely trying to inform.

PEACE

Ok i own a dak. 1997 5.2 V8 and love it. But if you think your truck will outlast a honda accord/civic of the same year you need a serious wake up call.

P.S. (the most reliable cars in the world are jap made.) just so you can get that straight

YUP! ONLY a V8 gives you that fealing. No matter how BIG of an exhaust tip you put on your lawn mower, uh hem! I mean Civic, it will NEVER give you the same results of a NASTY V8 Idling past you!!!!

And I HATE when people say imports last longer.
They DON'T! It is so damn rare to FIND ANY left from the 1980's yet they sold sh*t loads!

My bro and I went into the junk yards last weekend looking for a simple altenator pulley for a Dodge Ram. (for a project). NO Dodge RAMS to be found where we looked yet the junk yard is FLOODED with HONDA's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. So how the hell can Honda's be out lasting Dodge's when there is still 1970's and 1980's power rams, Dusters, Valiants, etc, all over the road seen on daily basis and it will take me a few days of driving to find a Honda from the mid 80's?????

Yeah. Drive your Honda. But don't expect to be able to run into a garbage can and then still be able to make it home because it will be totalled and added to the ongoing mamoth piles in the HONDA JUNK YARDS!!!!

Also not trying to argue here, trying to understand your point. Here we are again back at square one. You say a car weighing a little more than 50% as much as a heavier vehicle can stay up with it on the highway while having less horsepower. I don't doubt that at all, it has alot less weight to keep moving. The truck would probably need, I don't know, another 150 horses to really leave that Neon in the dust.

I don't think the fun is in seeing who can outrun each other already at speed on a freeway but who wins in the 1/4 from a standstill. Any monkey can keep his foot down on a pedal that becomes a contest of stupidity if not on a track. But that's an entirely different post so I digress.

Wow, I hear a lot of import bashing. Need I remind you how many Dodges are assembled in Mexico and then shipped into the country (imported, if you will). I'll bet most of you guys (except the more heavily modified Dakotas) are going to be shocked when you catch one of them big Nissans at a light. I couldn't believe how quick that was. Oh yeah, I'm guessing there will be a lot of "still a stupid ricer" or "damn jap trucks". FYI, it is assembled in Canton MS by Americans. I think I found my next truck. Oh yeah, I also expect "well it's ugly". Don't worry about that because you'll only have to look at the tailgate.

GraphiteDak-

I'm with you all the way. The imports are alright, but I want rear-wheel-drive and a big, torquey V8. I like being able to put my foot in it at 30 mph and breakin 'em loose (in an automatic, mind you) rather than having to rev my 4 banger to 7 grand, pegging the tach needle, then dumping the clutch just to get a little scratch:)

um-

That's cool, all I was trying to do was to get my point across. Trust me, the last thing I wanted was for you all to think that I was some arrogant little teenager who thought he knew it all.
