I'm still looking for the actual factory procedure on indexing the rotor on my 99 Dak 5.2L. Since I followed the instructions from the net backprobing the sensor, the truck runs worse then before :-(

Also, how high was DC's head up their a$$ when they designed the 6.5foot bed? I've got NO stake pockets! My 92 8'bed Dak had 6 of them. What do you guys do to make up for this loss? I tried to load two dirtbikes in her last weekend and ended up borrowing a trailer. Those factory tie downs are fine for one bike but no good for two :-(

ever hear of criss crossing the tie down straps?
works real good in mine.
btw, Dodge stopped building a 8 ft bed a few years ago due to the fact that only 7 percent of the ones sold the previous year that were custom ordered by the owners with a 8 ft. bed. Meaning that only a small amount of people wanted them.

criss crossing didn't work satisfactorily. The OEM tie downs in the corners just don't cut it for two bikes and gear.

As far as the bed goes, IIRC you could never get an extended cab with the 8' bed in a Dakota. I thought it would be nice to go to the extended cab and that I'd just live with the 6.5bed. If I could have gotten both I'd have jumped at it.

The bed keeps getting smaller, re: the 4 door models now, because people buy these trucks and treat them like cars. I'm starting to think I should have bought a full size truck instead.

The Slide-N-Lock seems like it might be the ticket though. For the price however, I might just make something of my own.

Oh, almost forgot! Thanks for being a pussy and hiding behind a fake name.

Wal, drilled a larger hole on the back of where the stake pocket should be. Just large enough to get a wrench in. The I drilled a small hole to get an eye bolt through. For added support, I used big washers on both sides of the eye bolt. It works great for dirt bikes. The hooks on the floor of the bed don't provide enough stability.

GG - thanks a bunch. I was concerned that it wouldn't be strong enough, but from what you tell me it sounds like a hook and backplate are going to do it. Thanks!

Neo - it's because this site doesn't require registration. I'll bet you in their "Member" boards they don't get any of this crap.

I took over a site that was like this in that people passing through could post (semi)anonymously and there was frequent fighting and jerks making obnoxious posts. I moved us to a site where I require registration and it disappeared. Unlike this site, mine's free though. I only have 1300members and 6gb use per month though - dunno what it is here.
