My 98 2.5 54,000 miles makes a rattling noise at idle. I can put my hand on the cat, before it heats up, and it feels like the noise is inside it. Sounds like a rock in a tin can. Passed emissions a couple of months ago. No noise above idle, runs as good as a 2.5 can otherwise. Do the cats fall apart inside? Since this is emissions equipment, is it warrantied long-term?

From what I've heard here cats do die that way. Good news is it is still covered by the warranty.
