I have brake pulsation as if the rotors are warped. Only has 3200 miles on it and this has been going on since I bought it. Dealer says problem reported nationwide but no fix available. Rotors look good. Anyone else with this problem? Any suggestions?

Chris - I think what Josh is saying is that as there are 16/17 pages of topics in the forum that you should read those of interest. You may find a list of future problems. Mine under heater core puked, and my dealings with the company (and at three months I still haven't got my original receipts returned as promised)has lead me to join the NO MORE DODGE club. The truck fit our needs 4-cyl - got as high as 28 -30 mpg, 22 gal gas tank, and a 6.5 foot bed which allowed us to carry two days of firewood with all our camping equipment. Good luck in your search.

Dude, I have been dealing with this for 3 months.. Its is so bad now that I can barley drive it. Chrystler has no fix.. and I personally feel like they can give a damm. I will never ever buy a dodge again. I am very unhappy on how they are handling this issue...I bough an 05 so I would not have to deal with this crap and so be it.. Email me if you want my entire nightmare. I can save you alot of trouble..Good Luck

Rob S - Thank you for the information for the dealer told me that Dodge has taken care of all the old problems and that they are much better now. He then tried to push us into a Dorango, or to upgrade to a Ram 1500. We declined. We are looking into the truck of the year - a Toyota Tacoma, the Tundra is too big for our needs. We are going to wait till Nov/Dec to make our choice. Good Luck.

I have had the same type problems. I purchased my truck June 4th 05 and it has been in for repair for the entire time except for approxiately 1 and 1/2 weeks. I have had brake issues that they say are repaired now. It's not vibrating for the moment but I just picked it up yesterday. But I also have been having airbag issues. The indicator light on the dash that shows the airbag is off will not stay lit if my 56lb son is in front. It is not everyday that he sits in front but there are occasions that he has to due to the fact I have three smaller children in my care. After time and time of checking the airbag and me finally saying I no longer want the truck that it isn't safe for my son they show me this owner hang card that shows if a "item, not a person buckled in" is in the seat under 40lb that the light will not be on but the airbag would not activate. This was yesterday morning. They told me to look at my owners manual again. Well, I did and grant you it does say that a light item will leave the airbag and light off at the same time but it also says in large letters do not assume that the airbag is off if the light is not on stating it is off. I'm not sure what to do. I purchased the truck in Georgia and I just want out of it and in something safe.

I have the shake that happens after 60 mph. Dealers turned the rear rotors and have ordered new rear axles because they are supposedly warped. I tried to tell them the first time I brought it in, because i read it here, but they just rotated tires. They say its ok to drive until they get the parts. We'll see....They'll be taking it back if its not fixed.

Everyone,

This is a reoccurring problem on all 05 Dakota's. My truck has been the shop too many times to count. Write to Chrysler specically stating your problems. If all of us do it we can get out of thses useless vehicles. My truck has new rotors, front and rear brakes done and a new chip for the tranny. It only has 18,000km on it. Brutual.

visit this web site: http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/

There are lots of us with this problem. Chrysler is in trouble on this one. I am trying to get out of this lease. Are there any other Canadians who are leasing and have this problem. We don't have the same "lemon laws" as the states. Any help would be great

Ernie, your problem is that you have 4 cylinders. This post is on 05's and the 4 cylinders died along time ago. 2002 IIRC

Finally got a Dodge dealer to listen to me. Replaced a defective rear drum and a warped rear drum. Much improvement but still intermittent pulsation. Sounds like a defective ABS system. Keeping the calipers stuck on & warping drums. That's my theory anyway. My cousin that works for a Dodge dealer just told me that the 7/7 powertrain warranty is not going to be available in the 2006 models. Too many problems.
Isn't that interesting!!

Grapas - Please forgive me for I thought that I was trying to help. You are right this is for 05 Dakotas and mine is just a 2000. As I am 63 this was to be our last vehicle, and the one best suited for us and our needs and with no towing of a boat or trailer the 4 banger was all that we needed engine wise. I just got caught up in this site and perhaps overlooked the correct way to respond to the messages. I have learned a lot from the many catagories and will continue to do so. I will refraim from adding my comments to the messages that don't apply to my truck so again sorry if I overstepped. Ernie

I had my 05 in to the dealer twice to see about fixing the shake & brake problem. Both times they test drove it and said they didn't experience any problem with it.

This problem started within a couple hundred miles of driving it off the lot new. I will prefix this by saying mine wasn't as bad as some of you have experienced. Its intermittent, and even when it does happen its not always that bad - just noticable.

The odd thing is, now that I've got over 10k miles on it, the problem rarely happens any more and when it does its barely noticable.

If there's a recall, I'll definetly be in line to get the work done, but for now I'm done bitching unless it starts acting up again.

I have an '04 Dakota with disks all around. Had the same brake pulsation issues until I did the following:
Pulled all disks and cleaned up the areas on the disk, hub and wheel that contact each other. The disks are held in place against the hub by the wheel. Drums are held in place the same way, so this should work there, as well.
When I put them together, I torqued the wheel nuts evenly in a cross pattern in three steps using a good torque wrench. 1st step 50 ft/lbs, 2nd step 85 ft/lbs, 3rd step 100 ft/lbs.
Also, my brake pulsations were coming from the rear, so I swapped them to the other side.
No problems since.

I have to say that the guys at the dealership have beed good. Cant wait to see what they are going to try this time. By the way, its an 05 quad with the 9.25 inch rear,4.7,4x2,17 in rims.

It's Back and worse than ever!! My 05 Dakota didn't make it very long from the last "repair" (and being told it would not vibrate again) until it started pulsating again. I took it to another dealer just to have them check it and they did find the vibration. It's been in the shop a total of five times in less than 3 months at over a week each time except one. It has had 2 sets of pads all the way around, new rotors, new drums, new tires, and according to their word not writing a new hub. I filed lemon law. Waiting to hear from them. Until then it is a very expensive yard decoration. I started back driving my 02 taurus. I just want in a dependable truck.
