Thank you so much. I thought I was in for an expensive fix at the dealership for my 02 durango. I figured what the heck I'll try to do it myself. Sure thing the replacement board worked, and for only $10. Thanks again!!!

I have a 92 dakota and my heater blower was working fine then just quit, I checked the fuse under the dash, its fine, checked the fuse under the hood, its fine,replaced the blower motor, still nothing, seen this board so i checked the resistor block on the firewall its fine. There is heat coming out but when I turn the fan on all settings ,nothing, I hope someone could help me out, please

A big thanks to all; this thread saved me a lot of work.
I recently bought a 1989 Dakota (3.9L) with an inoperative heater blower. As suggested here, the resistor box was bad.

2001 R/T , I have had all of the usual blower motor problems, mine turned out to be burnt connections at the ignition switch due to too much current draw, I found that moving the steering wheel to the up position would cause the blower to come back on, which led to finding the problem. Now, this summer, my blower again wont run after the truck has been setting out in 100 degree + heat, and this time the plug that connects to the resistor has burnt connections. Does anyone know if there is a kit or if a replacement plug is available with out having to replace the whole wiring harness.

It has now been a few weeks since I put in the new resistor block. Thanks to this board for the correct fix to this problem.
Had a problem with the blower after the new block was in ( I should have known nothing would be eazy ). Anyway, I had put in the new resistor block and my blower sprang to life - for a few weeks. After the few weeks all I had was the medium speed on the dashboard switch. This lasted for about a day, then all speeds were non-operative.
I thought that something must be wrong with the blower motor, since the resistor block was brand new and had operated, but I took a look at it and the plug that went on the resistor block anyway. Pulled off the plug - it was somewhat melted in the middle but it looked ok, plugged it back onto the block and I had blower action on all the speeds again. This lasted about a day and once again I had no blower.
Tried pulling off and putting on the plug again, but it did not work and I had no blower action on any setting.
Studied every post on this board dealing with the blower, and most said the problem with no blower was centered on the resistor block. Ok, I said, since it is so easy to get to ,it's better to try to find out what's wrong first (if possible) then to pay big money to someone else.
Pulled the truck into the back yard, lifted the hood, and went to work. Pulled off the resistor block plug. Sanded the spade terminals. Checked for continuity on the resistor block - it was ok. By the way, when I look at something that is supposed to be resistive I expect to find some sort of resistance, but all I find on the block is zero resistance but it has continuity. And this works! Maybe it's some sort of inductance thing or something, but its ok as long as it has continuity.
Looked at the plug and everything looked ok. Pushed the plug back on the resistor block terminals. The plug insulation was melted at the middle spade terminal, both top and bottom. Checked for continuity between the middle male terminal on the block and the middle spade terminal on the plug at where it was melted. There was no continuity, even through the resistor blocks spade terminal was inserted into the female terminal of the plug!!!
I pulled off the plug and looked at the middle terminal again, but this time I really gave it a going over. Down inside the terminal was all this plastic from the melted insulation of the plug! Taking an exacto knife I dug out the plastic, sanded the terminals a little, and bent the terminals a little. Then I put the plug back on the resistor block, and tried the blower again. IT WORKED!!!!!
Pulled off the plug, put dielectric grease on all the terminals, reconnected the plug to the block, and covered the burned part of the plug with electrical tape. If you use electrical tape, take note that it streaches when it is pulled off of the roll. Put the tape on loose over the plug.
Turned on the motor, turned on the blower, and everything is working fine.

Sweet stuff/ I googled "Dakota blower motor won't work except on high" and found this page. I have an 02 Dakota and the resistor replacement couldn't have been easier. $12.24, two 5/16" screws to turn (albeit a slight pain to get em back in there) and 12 minutes later, I'm fixed. Thanks internets!

Thank you all for your help! It was a cheap and easy fix (10 minutes). I have an '02 Dakota and the heat/ac would only work on high for about one year. It finally stopped working - of course it was the coldest day of the year (-15F). Your help and the following website really helped!

My blower motor stopped on first two speeds.
Pulled the resistor, it was covered with water.
Dried out the resistor and checked resistance.
It appeared to be reading the correct values.
Reinstalled the resistor, turned on the blower-still no blower on lower speeds. Heard a sound from the blower motor and pulled the blower.
Blower was filled with water. Best I can tell, the water is coming from the evaporator.
Can anyone suggest a fix
