I just bought Mevotech upper and lower Ball joints. Upper fitted but Mech says no good on the lower joints.
Can anyone give me the definitive "what happened" that makes these lower replacement joints no good. Its a 99 2wd Durango.

You may try the General Board, there more people may see this.

The 4x4 lowers are diff part numbers than the 2wd trucks, totally diff front end set up.

Maybe you bought 4x4 lowers?

Houptee, which parts from the Harbor Freight press did you use to remove/install the lowers? Could you explain the order of the pieces to me that you used for each process? I have the same press, but the middle size tube seemed a bit too small and I was afraid it might damage the joint on installation. I went and bought the 14 piece master kit, but none of those really seem to fit either.

Thanks

It was a while ago dont remember which tubes from the kit worked. Basically you need to first pry off the rubber grease boot and then file or grind the 3 tabs that keep lower ball joint in the lower control arm hole. Then you use a tube larger than the outside diameter of the ball joint and press it into the tube. You could also go to home depot or lowes plumbing dept, bring your new ball joint with you to test size, and get a black steel pipe nipple that ball joint fits inside for a few bucks. Good luck email me if you have any questions.
