Just a question for all you thunderform owners,...whats it like? is this item worth purchasing? is the bass any good? and how do you hook it up?(wiring a left and right channel, or bridged?) any info or personal experience with these please post. any information is good information!!!

also, can someone still use the jump seats and will the seats still fold down? do you
have to have the seats up to get good bass?

I love the box, hate the thunder 6000s I got with it. I'm on my third set and I don't push my subs that hard. The box is a little difficult to put in but I've done it twice now so I'm getting better. You have to take both rear side panels out (or at least I did) and that is the most difficult part. The seats are still usable and they still fold up and down. They do sit at a more of an angle. I found that to make them more comfortable, but I'm 6'1" or so. The amp I use is the MTX 275 (I think thats the model). It's discontinued. Its rated at 250 watts bridged but my puts out way more than that. If you leave the box as is you do have to wire it bridged. When I have the seats up I seem to get more bass, but I normally have something or someone sitting back there. So, they stay down most of the time. One more thing, I did have to get speaker grills for the subs, since my installer thought that the subs were pushing against the seat when it was down and therefore burning up the voice coil. I'm not so sure that was the solution to my subs going out so quickly. They are starting to go once again.

You can use about 50% of the subs on the market, they just can't be much bigger then the MTX 6000 subs. So ones with large magnets or huge frames will not fit.

The IDQ DVC subs are awsome for the Thunderform, much better than the MTX 6000's, and about the same price.

Welks_97 as far as the subs hitting the seat when it's down....If the subs are hitting the seats, they will also hit the speaker grill since the grill will be closer to the speaker than the seats. Ditch the MTX6000's for some better subs. I have the IDQ DVC subs, and havn't heard of anyone being dissapointed with these subs. Mine hit hard, and most can't beleive they are actually 10" subs. I am using the MTX 2400X amp to push them which is rated at 600watts the way I have it hooked up.

IDQ subs are made by Image Dynamics. The stereo shop that did my install was a dealer for them, and I knew a guy that worked there so got a really good deal on them. Price was around $120 each, but htta was two years ago, might be cheaper now.

Image dynamics has a website imagedynamicsusa.com

Check out ebay, mmxpress.com for an idea of the price. They should run you a little over $100 a piece.

I think the MTX 6000's are very good subs. I'm using a 1200 watt sony xplod amp which pushes these subs quite nicely. I'd go with them because they are not that expensive and have very good bass output. Especially in a sealed enclosure. Porthole boxes are also very excellent for smaller vehicles that the rear seat will not fold down on.

I am still on my first set of 6000's and I love them...it could have something to do with the fact that I'm only using a MTX4202 amp to push them...but it does sound really good...I'm hoping to upgrade to the 8000's with a MTX6500D amp within the next month or so

I to have the thunderform box. With the og 6000's. My amp is a precision power with 4 ohm rating at 800 watts. Most people think that my subs are in the bed. and that there 12 inch subs.Until i lift my sit and they say "sh-t I thought there 12's." Second thing they say is whats that in the middle. I say that my d--k. which is a 1.5 capatior for the power of the bass amp.
