Hi All,

I’ve lurked a lot here and learned quite a bit, but have only made a few posts.

Anyways, I’ve made a subwoofer enclosure for my 2003 Dakota Quad Cab. It fits nicely behind the seat and allows the seat to be fully reinstalled without modification. The only drawback is that the seat doesn’t lift up ALL the way, only about 45 degrees – enough to throw a set of jumper cables or other stuff under it. I’ve decided to remove all of my stereo equipment since I never listen to it anymore and just want the extra bucks. Long story short, I’m going to be listing it for sale, most likely on eBay. I’m making a post here to see what kind of interest there is out there for a sub box like this.

A few things about the enclosure: It’s made from ½” MDF, so it is much heavier and sturdier than a molded plastic box (read MTX Thunderform). It will come carpeted with charcoal black carpet and will have high quality 5 way binding posts speaker terminals that will have easy access once installed. All the joints are glued and screwed and sealed tight. I used about a bazillion sheetrock screws to hold it together. It holds most 10” subwoofers, but I would be leery of trying to stuff a huge sub, like an Infinity Kappa Perfect in it. I don’t have the internal volume off hand - I’ll measure it tonight and post back. I had a cheap Audiobahn 10” DVC in it and it sounded great with a 300W RMS amp. It’s not going to win an SPL competition, but it hands down beats trying to have 6.5” door speakers kick out bass at 30Hz.

I need some extra cash and I think this makes a viable alternative to the expensive MTX Thunderform. I have one built right now, and materials for a second one. Is anyone out there interested in one? Want to know more?

Jay
