Subject: 03 Club Cab speaker set up
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought my 03 club cab and want to put new speakers in. I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help out with. I would really like to put a sub in somewhere. I already have an 8'' sub to use and was wondering if this fit underneath the back bench seat?

Another question is can the rear speaker area fit 6x9's. I was thinkin that if I cannot fit a sub underneath the seat then maybe just power some 6x9's with an amp to give the base that I want.

If someone could help me out with any kind of info that would be greatly appreciated.

I'v seen an 8" sub box that fits in the tool tray, can't remember who mades it off hand. Try doing a search here for 8" CC sub box, you'll probably find the MFG. You could also make a fiberglass enclosure to fit the tool tray or take out the tool tray and make a custom box that fits some 10s, that's what I did. MTX also makes a thunderform for the CC daks which replaces the factory tool tray, it houses 2 10's, but it's pretty shallow. Check out Ebay, I have seen both these enclosures there before.

6x9's will fit in the side panels after some cutting, but the plastic side panels only have a 6 1/2" grill. The sound would get distorted playing through the 6 1/2 grill or the side panels would look funky with 6x9 grills screwed to them. I would opt for some 6 3/4" or 6 1/2 speakers and the sub you wanted. (Yeah 6 3/4" speakers, what was Dodge thinking?)
